So, not new to old changes, but first try on the speedmaster. I emptied her according to my haynes and ordered the oil change kit/filter from NewSpeedmaster. After draining from the plug and oil filter, I topped off the new filter, installed it, replaced the drain plug, and commenced in filling the oil. According to the manual and the quantity in my oil change kit, I should have used all the oil i purchased to fill the oil. However, only 3.5 quarts in and the bike measures full according to the site glass. Am I missing something? Unfortunately my oil light doesnt currently function properly (another issue in itself), so I dont have that as a warning indicator. Ran the bike and checked again after it cooled and the sight glass still shows right in the middle. So is there a better way to check the oil level? Just roll with it? Stumped.

3.5 Qrts is fairly close to what your oil capacity is. If you had let her drain over night, you would need a little more. Go for a ride.

that oil light wont come on unless you have it low enough to lose pressure and that's not gonna happen with such small differences. If its in the sight glass its fine.

Does the oil light come on when you first turn on the ignition switch ?

It's not speeding till you get pulled over.

Run with it. HalfwY up the glass is just above perfect. When draining, do stand the bike up, hold it for 5 seconds then set it on the side stand again. Repeat that 5 or 6 times.

I ran it around the block and have checked it twice in the sight glass. Guess I just assumed i couldn't be right. Anywho, the oil light does not come on at all. Not even during start up. I believe there is a ground switch that can go bad with those things is that true? I went out on me when i switched over to LED's, now I get nothing out of it even after i put the old bulbs in. All the other lights took to the LEDs fine.

Not sure what you're question here is but, if you can see oil in the sight glass yer good to go regardless of what that silly little idiot light is doing.
