Well, I know seeing our bikes around town is pretty rare still even after 12 years on the market, but how rare is it to work with someone who has one of our bikes. One of the techs stopped into my office to ask me about Blue when I brought it in today, and he has a red/silver '02. He bought his from someone out in South Dakota (maybe North, don't remember off hand) back in 2009, and loves it. He's waiting on his QPD belt kit, and I warned him that I'd heard some negative feedback on it, anyone want to chime in who loves or hates it. Of course, I steered him to this website, and also let him know that due to his bike not being a blue/silver beauty like mine, he'd have to park one row back from mine, but otherwise congratulated him on his excellent choice!

I just don't like belt drive in general. The good Friar had problems with a belt drive but don't remember the manufacturer. I like a chain because it is fast and easy to make a permanent repair along the road if it breaks. I also don't like having to take 1/2 the bike apart to change out the belt. Don't have to take anything apart to change out a chain.

A growing number of harley riders are converting to chains. Mostly because the near $800 bill that comes with the occasion that one breaks.
Although they typically last long, in the event of a rock becoming trapped between the belt and pully they break. Yep even with those plastic gards over the lower portion of the belt the fluke debris manages to get in from time to time and bam .....big shop bill.
Ill stick with a chain.

My wife's 06 Suzuki S40. Luckily the belt is massive for this bike and I just pushed the stone out and we've had no problems. I have a mate with a Victory Vegas Low and the belt on it is half the width. With the size of that engine I reckon it would have snapped.
Was considering a belt for the Speedmaster but have gone away from it for all the reasons stated above.

edit for spelling.

I had the QPD belt drive for about 4 years. That's how long the pullies lasted. They are worn down beyond safe use.
It was smoother, but I will be sticking with the chains.

I got the setup in my basement, along with a good belt if someone needs bits

Thanks for the feedback. Now the dilemna, he has it on order, actually backorder, from NewSpeedmaster.com. Hate to have him cancel his order since it helps Brent...
