I just took delivery of a new AGV Dragon helmet. According to the website I am supposed to wear a large. It is very snug. I am wondering if it is supposed to be that tight. Keep in mind I haven't worn a helmet in many years and I don't remember how tight helmets that I wore in the past were. Can anyone tell me how snug they need to be?

Personal comfort also comes into it.
The lid shouldn't be lose enough to move too much when you grab it and pull it around.
Put the lid on and fasten the chin strap. It should not have too much play and definately not wobble.

Your lid sounds the opposite (not wobbling!) but if it's too tight, you'll not want to wear it if it's uncomfortable!!
Some lids have interchangable padding (thicker and thinner) - possibly try that.

My current lid was nice and snug when I got it in November.
Probably the tightest lid I've ever had but it felt nice being snug but not uncomfortable.

I've lost weight in the last few weeks and my fat face is less fat so the lid is now a little loser.

Basically, too tight can be as bad as too lose - it's your call really I'm afraid!

If your head moves in the helmet, it will build enough momentum to cause damage in a crash. The helmet should fit as snug as a knitted cap, but not so tight as to stop circulation or leave red marks when you take it off.

It's tight but doesn't seem uncomfortable for the short period that I had it on. I am concerned that it may be after wearing it for a while though. Maybe I should just strap it on and wear it for a while around the house and see. I just don't want to get stuck with a large when I should have really bought an X-large.

Nologic,
Some helmet brands I wear a Large and some, an XLarge. Make sure it's comfortable, but snug. A tight helmet can bring you to a halt after 45 minutes or so. I never order one unless I've tried a particular brand in person. I have an HJC XL trooper style now and it did loosen up after a few months. Keep in mind, I have an unusually large amount of brain tissue. You'll see that in photos and when we meet.

I tried on an XL Bell yesterday that seemed too tight. 5 minutes after I took it off I got a headache that lasted a good half hour... So yeah, snug should mean you have a hard time moving it around on your head once it's on.

I used to ski semi-professional, and I sized my motorcycle helmet as I always used to size up my ski helmets.

It should be snug, but not tight. Not too snug either, the key is when you look at a mirror and pull the helmet straight off your head, your eyebrows and forhead skin raise up. If it feels like your ripping your forehead off, probably too tight.

You should not feel any specific pressure points. It should fit snug all around. If you start to get a headache or anything after wearing it for half an hour it's too tight. Also remember that the pads should break in a bit after some use.
Also... AGV helmets are known to have a smaller opening that makes it harder to get on and off. But once on it should be comfortable. I had an AGV Ti-Tech and it felt like my ears were ripping off when i removed it. But i had to exchange it because there was too much pressure on my temples. And the next size up was too big,
