I posted awhile back concerning my bike pulling hard to the right and nose diving when using the front brake. No way in the world would I ever relate this to my front fender. Thinking back it started back after I removed my front fender, I was going to shorten it up a bit. While in the process of packing to move I decided to put the fender back on this morning rather than having to pack it. I took a ride this morning with my brother-in-law this morning and was telling him about the problem. As I pulled out if the drive I hit the front brake hard to let him see what was happening...nada, I went into the street up to second gear & nothing again. It now brakes straight as an arrow. Any ideas?

Is your fender bracket tweaked?

Sounds like the forks are twisting under brakes and the added bracing given by the front guard controls this. Although I would have thought it would pull the other way as the disc is on the left.

A thought just occurred to me- it probably is pulling to the left initially and that acts like a counter steering input and the bike trys to turn right.

Bracket not tweaked, maybe as Cloudy said, a bit of fork twist. I did remove the shrouds a few months ago and added gaiters but I don't think that would compromise the forks.

Did you try with the fender off but the bracket in place ala fork brace? There have been a lot of "dog bones" installed over the years to mitigate fork twist from brake loading.

Take two minutes to remove the front fender again and see IF the problem comes back. I ride 50% of the time without the front fender (and no bracket) and I've never felt any pull. Just sayin'.

did you do anything with fork oil? anything to make it uneven? maybe that would cause pull? is your rear tire aligned? are your forks even in the triple tree?
