so this thing came with the bike when it had the 790, its set at position 4. with the new engine being a 865 from some random speedmaster, what do i need to do? i don't know enough to make my own map if thats what i need to do.

No, you don't have to create your own map. Turn the dial to the setting that matches the serial number of your factory igniter but dont change the default mapping. If you want you can download additional maps from Procom's website, but you don't have to.
