Had these laying around & figured I could make them fit....

I was right!!!!!!!! Managed to clear the spokes by 1/4", get all the pad on the disc & center the rotor dead in the center of caliper....

I used 1/4" steel plate.... I hope that is sturdy enough.

Strong work. I love making things fit. I hope it's strong enough too.

A rough strength comparison of mild steel A-36 to 6061 Aluminum is you must go 50% thicker with Al. to match steel. This is based on deflection. Lots of variables (alloys and your engineering) and any other unknowns do not prove anything to an absolute, but your 1/4" steel plate closely equals a piece of 1/2" Al. of the same config. All this was explained to me by a Boeing Engineer, when I was a welder for Boeing on the hydrofoil fast attack craft back in the early 70 s.

Reviews ? How much better does it stop ? Aggervation factor ?
Then you can give us part numbers and a cool drawing of that 1/4" bracket that's as strong as a hunk of 1/2" almunimum.

we need to know these things

I'll say it: Scary. Not to harangue you but jeez, what's the gain? Looks? Not. Performance? Maybe?

Performance??? Mostly is yet to be determined. I haven't had an opportunity to ride it hard enough to see if addresses what I intended. Under normal riding conditions, I'm doubt I'd see a significant difference even if I had bolted up an old single pot from my KZ. But, at some performance level, there certainly must be an improvement going to a 4-pot, otherwise every bike would be running the same brakes we have, wouldn't they? Under hard use, primarily in the mountains, is where I saw the stock brake start to fade. I attributed this primarily to the rotor and I had snagged the Thruxton rotor on ebay for $50 bucks or something. Since it is larger, I needed to make a bracket for any caliper, so I figured why not put this on. I've got $25 bucks in the caliper plus a set of pads. For about $100, I get to see what works.

Looks?? Hmm. Not thrilled with how I cut the bracket & I picked up the wrong can of black, so the textured look makes it even worse. I can fix that, but I'm not really too concerned.

Scary?? Not really, as long as you can bolt stuff together & bleed brakes.

What's to gain?? Maybe a little performance, personal satisfaction, & I'm a masochist that loves being harangued.

I think this is a good idea...Fab Kevin makes something like this for Harley's....performance...major upgrade, you are changing from a two piston to a four piston system.....the Bonnie people have changed over to a four piston set up (there is a direct replacement off a CBR but they are all bought up...the up grade will be more on braking feel and brake fade

I believe a 50% increase to 1/4" would equal 3/8"

I also believe Boone's Farm "Strawberry Hill" is the BEST wine!
