just curious my speedo quit working properly oh about 4 yrs ago it reads high...I disassembled the speedo and checked the cable it seems to be ok....is it a gear or a magnet in the front hub...I was thinking of ordering a drag specialties but I thought I would ask a few questions first.I had it out for its first run of the year and there seems to be a light rattle in the front hub...never noticed the sound last year...thanks

Any takers on the speedo thingy...where the cable goes into the front hub is it a gear in there or is it a magnet system,ok I know what you are saying take it apart and check you lazy...bleep...but I thought I would ask before I do that, I more than likely should take the rims off and do a grease job anyways anyhoo I am getting off topic.hhhmmm maybe put those gators on that I have had for a year...change the carbs screws to hex...any input would be appreciated...sooner or later the coppers are going pinch me I have been tach running for 4 years.

It's mechanical, not magnetic, thus the cable.

There is a washer in the drive unit with ears on the outside and tabs on the inside. The outer ears engage the wheel and the inner ones engage the speedo drive unit. I had one go bad and the speedo just quit working. I bought the whole drive unit from Pinwall for $14.

This is the correct one, ratio wise anyway: web page and a 12mm male input fitting as to your cable

These speedos are terrible. I have a Speedmaster and an America and both of mine have done what yours is doing. Replaced them and the Speedmaster is doing it again already. Go down the road sometimes all is well, sometimes I'mm doing 120 mph on my street. It's the speedometer itself. I'm getting ready to do an aceweel speedometer since my gas tank is custom so I have no neutral/ high beam/ directional/ oil pressure lights anyway. I have lots of plans and even more bikes.

Mike, You can get a speedo hub from PINWALL for cheap. I think you can get them to ship to Canada. Keith has ordered from them.
