I have stock bars on my Speedy and I like them but I have a bad shoulder that gets sore from how forward the bars make me ride. Tossing around the idea of changing handlebars. What do you have? Post pictures if you have them!

Pulled back and slightly taller Risers have been the answer for a lot of us, with the same exact complaint.

Fast Eddy carries them , listed as Euro Risers or some such nomenclature. The deal is, that you do not have to get new control cables, if you get the correct ones. An inch up and 1-2 inches farther back, usually fixes the back/shoulder strain problem. There are several on the market that will work, the mounting holes in your upper tree are 10mm and a lot of the more reasonably priced ones utilize 1/2 inch bolts, but there are adapter bolts available that are 10mm on one end and a 1/2 thread on the other. They go for around $20 a pair. The nicest plug and play ones are the Rivco brand, and they are spendy.

I think the America comes with slightly longer control cables than the Speedmaster. At least when I stretched out a purchased Pinwall, America clutch cable along side of my original Spdy cable, the America cable was 1-3/4" longer, as I rerouted the throttle cables to the other side of the frame spine, they were long enough. My point is that America bars on a stock Spdy may not be completely plug and play. Feel free to correct me as that's how we learn.

I believe in 2011/2012 the America bars changed a bit. Some what closer on the pullback and a bit narrower.
If your near a dealer you might check them out.

I got some slick pullback tall risers from Fast Eddy and that solved a shoulder problem for a lady. These worked perfectly for a bone stock Speedy, just had to mill the riser bases flat and drill out the holes in the yolk. The stock cables and wires work great after a re-route around the frame backbone. Had to ditch the stainless wire keeper thing from behind the headlight bucket. Overall, was a very doable project and the results were well worth it.

America bars, risers cables, great!!Jim's new spacers and speedy risers do change the position slightly to and there is no need to change cables.

Ok so I ended up getting some risers off of eBay that are very similar to the Rivcos but a lot cheaper. It took some tweaking on the triple tree but we got them on and I love the position of the bars.. Much more comfortable!! Thanks to Ryk for reccomending them!

Now the next problem... When I turn the bars completely one way (say to park) the turn signal hits the tank... What should I do?

Easy - turn the bars to full lock where the signals almost hit the tank, get your allen wrench out and loosen slightly the 2 allen screws on the control housing and just rotate the whole thing upwards to where it clears the tank a half inch or so.

Re-locate the turn signals down to the forks, is one fix or maybe lights with smaller housings?

Only problem with this though is you also end up changing the angle of the levers, for me anyway they would be to high. I am having the same issues, went to the rivco risers and they are ok, but honestly they are kind of ugly so i tried the spacer jim with the oem risers and its much better but there is still a reach. I have been putting it off but i may end up going to the america bars and maybe the america rivco risers, or what ever i can steal beg or borrow from Marty!!! Hey Buddy! LOL

I got some knock-off risers on ebay very similar in design to the Rivco too. I was having very similar issues, but I didn't mess with the trees, I turned down a larger stus and rethreaded it metric. Also I played with the angle of the bars in the risers til it was comfortable and had just a hair of clearence and adjusted the controls (including signals)too. Mine work just fine, but very minimal clearence at full turn.

Ok I will try and tweak the bars and see how that goes! Otherwise are there any cheaper turn signal relocators then the ones I see for 80.00?

Lightning Performance LPHBR-4 euro style risers made a world of difference for me.

When Nanci first got her speedy I noticed the signals would touch the tank. The tank was not sitting properly on the back bone,it needed to go further ahead.Check that out too.
