Hi, I've never used a windshield because I've never liked the looks of them. However I'm wondering if I might like one. What do you like/ dislike about them? Are there any decent looking ones for the Speedy?

I like mine. A small to mid size works for me. My America came with the Triumph Roadster screen. Had plenty of buffeting at highway speeds like many have complained about. Took a weekend trip and the wind was very tiring. No screen and speed was even worse. I actually cut mine down by 3" and am very happy. Blocks the wind from my chest, plenty of air flow on my face. Somewhere between the full roadster size & the summer screen maybe? Went from the Roadster screen to a Dart flyscreen on my Bonneville (sold and missed ) that was right for that bike. Gave me a "donor" screen to experiment with

I'll jump in - LIKE it ! Very well engineered and very sturdy mounting. Dependss on how tall you are - a Mempis Shades Alley Cat is larger than Dart but less obtrusive than some. The Fast One has both.

I have one and whereas it's not as effective as a windshield and lowers, it does a good job at deflecting the the wind over my head and around my body. What I appreciate the most is that crosswinds and semi truck turbulence is way less of an issue than with a wind screen.

You could always start with the dart. They're inexpensive and do deflect a lot of wind while still looking pretty darn cool. Later on if you feel the need you could move on to a larger screen however a bigger screen does not necessarily improve things. I run with a Memphis Shade Speed Demon but had to add lowers to get rid of buffeting around my head. Now it's a pleasant and relatively wind free experience behind that screen and I love it.
Live to love, love to live.

I have never riden a bike that had a windscreen that didnt cause the wind to blow up from under. While I really hate that I understand that it breaks the wind from pushing on your body. I still prefer naked. Now mind you most of the bikes I have to test ride have memphis shade, or a batwing. I have never riden one with a flydart or other streamlined sport screen of that type.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

I've a roadster screen and a summer screen, both of which have retired to the closet. Using either in the summer affords a very uncomfortably hot ride. Whenever one uses a screen, the gentle caressing embrace of the wind is lost. You cannot float over your tank at speed. You'll be tempted to ride without a lid. You still won't want to ride in the rain. lol. I choose to ride in the wind.

I bought a National Cycle Flyscreen from Bike Bandit years ago, and it was a keeper from the time I put it on, for said reasons. National made the Flyscreens for Triumph, so I saved a buck or two.
I bought it for the look/appearance, but I tell you I respect it for it's effectiveness - it really takes the wind blast off your chest and arms, and I have had no wind buffeting issues wearing my full-face Shoei. Wind noise, maybe, but not buffeting. Cross winds, and semi trucks are not a concern, as the shield is not big enough to catch the side blast.
It works real well, for me.

Memphis Fats with extended lowers (factory brackets and home made shields). No buffeting, it takes most the rocks, bugs and rain and helps on cold days. I really like it for 300 miles plus days and in traffic.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I have an 02 America that came without one. I found a factory one on E-Bay for less than 200, that was new. The PO took it off the day he bought his bike because he didn't like the look, It looks Great (in my mind) and I really like how it improves the ride. I don't like being pushed by the wind all day and having my helmet fill with wind. Just my 2 cents

I've had a big screen on my america for years but I rode without it last year and much preferred it at moderate speed. Quieter and smoother with a full face helmet.
I don't think I could handle extended highway time without though.

Whichever way you go, get a quick release system. That's my regret with the factory system.
