Hello all, I've been tossing around the idea of replacing the stock turn signals with Silver Bullets but wanted some input on how bright the small LED ones are compared to stock? I know the large one are about the same size as the stockers, smaller would be cooler, but I don't want to sacrifice visibility. You know how difficult it is for people to see us to begin with, what with all the important stuff they have to do in their cars....like putting on makeup, cell phone calls, reading maps, etc etc...

The small ones come with 30W halogen bulbs (the large ones with 50W ones) which are a bit brighter than the standard 21W incandescant globes. The halogens also have reflectors which makes them brighter again. Put it this way - I have the large ones and when I turn them on to turn off the highway to my house at night it floods the huge sign on the exit with flashing yellow light.

However the visible angle (about 80 degrees) of the silver bullets is less than that of the standard lights (roughly 120 degrees) so the turn signals will be less visible from the side.

The LED inserts for them should be about as bright as the standard turn signals.

Matt

Hi Matt, thanks for the input. Since they don't offer the large ones in LED if I opted for those and added an LED cluster, it would probably be from Radiantz. They seem to be rated the best and offer a 48 LED cluster (1.85" diameter) that is supposed to fit the large silver bullet housing.

After replacing my mirrors with some sleaker looking raddis the decision to get rid of those clunky stock signals was easy.Because my mirrors are smaller I went with the small silver bullets on the front. Now the small silver bullets on the back was too small for me,so I went with the large and for my bike I am very pleased with the look. Now if you go with the silver bullets remember there is only one wire for the power and no neutral, since the neutral is ran by grounding the light to the chassis. The potential problem you may run into,as in my case,is that your front signal brackets may not be grounded to your chassy. One of the front signals I had to remove the bracket, take the two pieces apart were they come together, scrape some of the paint, and put back together to get continuity. If you get some silver bullits I hope this will help.

Here are large Silver Bullets mounted on the rear. Visibility is no problem from
the rear, but likely they are not DOT approved due to side visability issues.

Here are large Silver Bullets relocated to a bracket I made.

how did you mount up the fronts? also there was no need for resisters with these directionals correct?

Go to the home page, click on links in the left hand column, and scroll down to Ma's cycles, under Triumph dealers. Click on their Speedmaster/America accessories at the bottom of the home page and they show you a price list for the large and small Kuryakyn lights. They sell a chrome bracket that mounts between the front forks and the turn signals mount to the bracket. The picture on their website is not very clear. I can email you a picture of the bracket if you like. When I installed these bullet turn signals, I think I had to go up 5 amps on the fuse. These draw a little more juice than the stock ones.

Also, you can get chrome spacers with the light kit. They come in different lengths. 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1 inch. Depending on how far you want the bullets to stick out. You can call Ma's and explain what you're doing and they'll fix you up. Good folks to do business with.

Thanks for all the input Gents! I'm starting with large ones on the back. A pair should be here in the next several days. If they look too big they will get swapped for small ones. Going with the run-brake-turn module eventually too.
