I belong to a local riding group and we've been asked to ride in a local parade next month. So I wonder and I ask... would be good ol' TBA be okay idling along for about 1/2 hour?

Hmmm, I don't know. A half hr. at idle is a while, even if it is cool out.

I don't know, Marty... it could easily be 25C or around 77F. And Rich, I too think that at any temp idling along for any length of time is probably not a good idea. Still though, I would love to be in the parade. I mean, does this mean air cooled bikes are exempt from parades?

Should be no problem, AmyLee and I have ridden in several parades here in central California with no over heating. The best way to handle a long parade is to take turns making a circle around your bike group if the street is wide enough, that allows the bikes to pick up speed briefly. Good luck and have fun.

Drawing upon my vast knowledge of air cooled engines, it should be fine. Of course these bikes are light enough, you could always "duck foot" it on the downgrades.

Get a couple of battery powered fans and clamp them to ya down tubes.

Harley police bikes are ridden in parades all the time. They're air cooled.

I think your bike will be fine, but you should perfect on your cheerleader wave.

Try the queens wave in unisen, less air resistance.

Keith, Invite _______ (One of our more vocal members) to ride with you. A good conversation with him should move enough air to keep everything cool.

I've been in a couple of parades and was more concerned with riding the clutch than over heating !

Right on, be sure and lube the clutch cable, and strength exercises for your left hand prior to the parade.
