Lost my Dad on April 10th @ 1:15 A.M. World war 2 veteran,USMC,Master electrician, square dance caller and all around good guy.
He came into my life when I was 15 years old and if not for him kicking my ass when I needed it I probably would have ended up in jail or dead.
He married my Mom in 1971 and treated her like gold and I will forever be grateful to him for that.( lost my bio Dad to lung cancer in 1959 when I was 3).He was 86 years old.
Rest in Peace Pop, until we meet again......

Just an old Hippie and I don"t know what to do.

Sorry for the loss to both of you. My mom turned 70 in Feb. and my greatest fear is the day I lose her and we all know that it happens to all of us. No one gets out alive. I work with some WWII vets and a couple from Korea. They are people greeters and janitorial workers and I go out of my way to let them know I appreciate the good work they do while most ignore them. I have some stories they told me but I can't relay them here, funny stuff. We are able to do the things we do, good or bad, because of the risk and sacrifice our men and women in uniform have taken and any time one passes it is a loss to all.

Very well stated, Ian!

And my condolences to both Charles and Tom here for the recent passing of their beloved fathers.

My condolences . May the good memories of the loved and lost assuage the grief and bring peace to you in your bereavement.

There are no words that can lessen the pain for you at the moment but I am sincerely very sorry for your loss.
I still remember losing my Father who was also the best mate I ever had in 1999.

Sincere condolences for your loss. I lost my Dad about 7 years ago and still miss him. I'm glad you have fond memories and it sounds like you were both a blessing to each other. I doubt we'll ever see another generation that gave so much and were rewarded with so little.

My condolences to you and your family for your loss. I lost both of my parents already, and so I know a little of what you are going through. Currently my Wife's Mother is expected to pass away with the next couple of days from Alzheimer's.

Sorry for your loss.
Agreed, they were the greatest generation.
My parents got married 3 months before Pearl Harbor. Yes, they had me late in life. My dad and uncle both served.
