Sittung at a red light a young college type was in the next lane, on a vintage Bonneville, blue with a white stripe down the back fender.

We chatted a bit. He has a couple friends "up North" that have them too.
Good to see a younger guy enjoying the cool factor of an old Triumph

I've had and sold a couple that I'd love to have today.
As you say the prices today are,

When I got divorced (in a former life) I foolishly sold a Triton which I know I wouldn't be able to afford to buy again today!
Now every time I see one it's just.................

I'd rather ride it than clean it!!!!

Tou gave a wife like mine. "enough talking, go get it". I just got an 03, with low miles. I like it so far, but wonder what EFI and another 100ccs is like. I am not curious enough to spend thousands more on a newer model with thousands morw miles.

Sorry about the confusing post, I was reading the "Buying a new Triumph" thread, and thought that was where I was responding to.

No reading glasses and an Iphone. Thank goodness I wasn't on E Harmony!

A couple of years ago the American Pickers bought a "like new" 67 Bonneville for $3,500. It was just a little dusty.

I was crying my little eyes out that I didn't find it first.

When I finally got tired of kick-starting my '68 Bonne, I sold it on eBay to some guy in Denmark. Made a tidy profit, considering I bought it in 1985 for 500.00!! I pretty much rode it every day (it was old when I bought it). Only one engine overhaul (with me), super-reliable . . . it easily paid for my new bike, so I stayed with Triumph!

If I buy a new bike it means I'm self-indulgent...but if I ride a clean, classic bike that makes me a CONNOISSEUR.

You might be on to something there. Just yesterday my wife was asking me if I want to get a new bike or a new truck once I pay these off, (hopefully very soon if all goes well) anyway, I told her there are some new bike and trucks I'd like to have but I probably just want to do performance upgrades on both of them that I have now. But..... now you got me thinking.... Might have to find a way to finagle a classic or two in to my evil plan.
