It's an early riding season this year, and today I got out on Friar's favourite ride, a loop through absolutely breathtaking mountain scenery. I knew it would be frozen up there, but that's part of the appeal this time of year. Nothing beats cutting through mountain snowscapes on a dry road with blue skies and warm sun to lead the way. Breathtaking, intoxicating, sensational, magnificent... just a few words to describe today's experience!! I took some pictures... enjoy!!

Absolutely no snow in the valley floor but only minutes after this picture was taken, we were riding past snow fields and frozen lakes.

Does anything beat this for scenery?!

Check out the snow bank next to the bikes... It's gotta be 6 feet deep!

Lots of snow flanking the road. So beautiful!

I'm seriously considering the purchase of this cabin up at the top of the pass we rode through today. Check out how much snow there is up there!!!

Frozen Bear Lake. It was cold up there but ya just gotta dress for it. I was comfortable throughout the whole ride!

At times it was cold, other times warm. The air was sooooo fresh and clean... Each turn revealed sensations only imagined by even the most seasoned adventure seeker. It is an amazing experience to be back on the bike again!!!

Live to love, love to live.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Great pics, I understand the beauty of riding in those conditions. I drove home (car) from Reno a few days ago and once hitting Donner Pass I wished I was on my bike...snow everywhere, clear roads and blue skies.

Ride like you mean it.

Beautiful ... but I got fixated on a whole lake of frozen beer! Where is this paradise?

Cheers, Richard

I could almost imagine stepping out on Bear Lake for some ice fishing... but I'd just rather keep on riding!

I was in the Welcome Center in Whistler, BC. There was a little sushi bar in the back. Seemed like an odd place for sushi but they were making it right in front of me.

Oh my gosh, the sockeye was still twitching when he served it. Enormous hunks of that bright orange sucker. Must have jumper right out of the river onto his cutting board.

Salmon has never been quite the same for me.

I saw that sushi bar when I was out there in Jan. funny place for it. Friend owns Japanese rest. in Whistler Weston Hotel so we indulged ourselves there. Can't beat the freshness of Salmon used for Sushi on the West coast.

One of the best, most invigorating, intoxicating, rejuvenating, nostril flaring rides EVER! I believe it's akin to climbing Mount Everest in terms of exhilaration!!! At least that's the way I feel about it.
