Rather than the helmet or no helmet debate, how about helmets that you don't mind wearing while protecting you? I'm over 50, my days of wanting to look cool for the sake of acceptance are long gone. However, I refuse to wear some of the gear out there for the simple reason it makes you look like a dork. My Head Trip DOT half helmet looks good and is a functional safety item. I wouldn't mind wearing a Davida Lunar or Roof Boxer as a full helmet, but there are no local dealers. I just can't see wearing helmets that make you look like a bobble head on steroids and what's with the bozo colors and designs? If you're going to make safety gear at least make it look good as well as making it functional. Just a thought.

So how do you like your Head Trip DOT? I have one on order and really hope it lives up to my expectations. As far as looking good, first I thought mat back was what I wanted. Then decided it's too trendy for me. I went back and forth on color and finally decided the candy black would do. To your point, all other traditonal half helmets made me look like I was wearing a turtle on my head!

I decided last year to get a full face for night and cold weather riding , started with a Nolan Roadrunner , very uncomfortable , lining started coming undone and plastic hinge cover fell out after trying on once , JUNK ! I decided then to spend a little more and exchanged for a Shoei TZR . Very nice , quiet , comfortable , about $250.

I like the flames on this helmet, the wife hates flames. She's always making me question my taste in.... nevermind. I like this one.

The only places near me that sell Bell helmets are Pep Boys. I've been to 3 so far, and so far no XXL. I gotta remember to look ahead on the net when I travel next time to see where else they are.

Online is no problem, but I have yet to find ANY XXL Bell to see if it fits. I'll try on the ugliest one ever just to see if it fits, then order one online, ya know?

The Head Trip half helmet is absolutely the best. It's like wearing nothing at all compared to the rest of the garbage out there. best money spent on a helmet in years. I'm in hopes they'll make something in a half with apron, or maybe a full face model. As long as you ordered the right size you'll be well pleased.

I visited the Head Trip site. Nice looking helmets and stylish in the repsect that riders wearing those set themselves apart from the crowd a bit. The Polo sytle strikes my fancy.

Those scorpions are nice lids, I just can't get one on my quabble head! I've been eyeing this Simpson for a while, but never can find one anywhere to try on. Too much money to take a flyer on Simpson Outlaw

Then don't look at the helmet in my pictures - what you can see of it. I'll see if I can post a full on picture later. Just ask Dwight and Derek - its obnoxious! But I have come to love it, its VERY visible, and its become sorta trade mark for me. Its a Shoei, and I don't know how I am going to replace it this year! Haven't seen any equally as obnoxious that I like! Becky

How do you like the AVG Dragon? I just posted on T-Rat asking if anyone had used one. I've been thinking about the sliver myself. How do their sizes compare with other companies? I wear a Nolan N102 & an HJC SyMax, both are XL. Does the AVG size run similar?
