Lemon juice just might be the ticket. It's an amazing cleaner!

I use a foam car mag wheel cleaner occaisonally. It may help . Spray it on on,brush it a bit with a plastic bristle kitchen brush and hose off. Don't get it on your face when brushing,it stings[Ask me how I know]

I would think the vinagar or lemon juice should work which are both acid and the spots are more then likely base. If the lemons don't work make lemonade. Isn't that the saying?

http://www.californiacustom.com/purple_metal_polish.htmlI used this plus their Deoxidizer product to cleanup a 45 year old Trophy primary with good results. Gentle but very effective and I think Amazon carries it, too.

Denatured alcohol often works for things like this and isn't abrasive in any way ? Might be worth a try, its relitivly cheap and has many uses.

I use Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish on both wheels & lower forks. It removed the sticky residue from the stick on wheel weights with a bit o elbow grease, and also the water/salt stain on the rear mag on Black Beauty. Works great on chrome stuff too...makes it especially shiny.

WHATEVER you use, try it in an inconspicuous place first, as your never really sure what type of coating they used on the raw aluminum. Some "Raw Aluminum" cleaning technics can, AND DO, do irreversible damage to the modern aluminum coatings. As a last resort, replace with chrome!

I recently did mine with Soft Scrub and a Magic Eraser pad. Not great but they haven't looked this good since new.

Use wheel clay or a wheel polish. Personally I would do a wheel clay.
I thought WD40 could be used for this but you'd be spraying it around rubber and that will make for some butt[puckering riding afterwards.

I've heard that toothpaste works well on mag wheels. I've not tried it though, so try a test place first

Nah, not really Paul. It was just that old SNL "New Shimmer: Its a floor wax AND a dessert topping" fake commercial starring one of your old countrymen Dan Arkroyd, the late great Gilda Radner and Chevy Chase, that's all.

S100 total finish restorer. its amazing on chrome and safe, good for paint and plastic also. And keeps a shine for a long time. I recomend it over a soft scrub or magic brush. about 7- 10 bucks a tube. try this first! http://www.jpcycles.com/product/900-335?...CFULf4Aod2T4Aqg but your local bike house should have it. I have even used it to fix scratched DVD and CD's. As you can tell Im a total fan of this product and I think I have used almost 15 different products to find the one I like best. If you cant find this, then my stand by is http://www.detailing.com/store/3m-chrome-and-metal-polish-10-oz.html but its a higher price. Autogeek.com has tons of stuff and so does Detailing.com hope this all helps.

Not only did Meguiar's "Water Spot Remover Polish" not work, I also struck out with Eagle One "Nevr-Dull Wadding Polish". Although, they are super shiny now!

I use "Nevr Dull" its a polish that has been around forever and comes in a blue can with wads of fabric moisened with the polich, that stuff works on any metal, chrome, aluminum, silver etc, cleans and polishes and very easy to use and not expensive. http://www.nevrdull.com/Crap! missed that you tried it, weird cause it works on mine all of the time.

Have you tried CLR ? Just used it on a car to do the same and worked fine took stains/spots off easily. After done I used fountainofyouth.com quick shine as a wax/sealent and you would never know the spots were there. had to do windshield hood and front grill due to customers sprinkler system

I think my buddy figured it out. I believe that soap has etched the wheels, like from not rinsing off the bike soon enough, perhaps while washing in direct sunlight.
