Hi! A couple of years ago I rebuilt my tank and sealed it with Kreem. Now I have some ugly blisters in the paint in a couple of places , and have to fix this before riding season. Outside fixes should be relatively easy (I hope). My question is what to do with the sealing. Can I re-kreem everything (clean and seal) or should I remove the old sealer and do everything from scratch? Thanks in advance!

Just give the tank a good cleaning and re-Cream it. I've done it before, no problems.

Look inside to be sure the coating isn't pulling away from the tank. I have seen this before and it is a tough one to fix. That coating can clog things up and the new coating won't adhere if applied over the loose stuff and you will end up with the same issue.

The POR-15 stuff is a good product also. I have no first hand experience with it but I did a lot of research on it back when I was looking for a way to fix the fuel tank on my '49 Dodge

PC-7 is also a great fix for leaking gas if you want to fix it externally. We used to patch gas tanks on tool wagons in the junkyard with it. The tank would fail around it but not at the repair. The repair really takes a beating running around the junkyard too.

Got myself some new sealer. Kreem says no problem re-coating if everything is cleaned well with de-greaser and aceton (!). I'll report the results when I' m done. Fingers crossed...
