So before it snowed here, it slushed. And before that it rained. So the bottom layer got PACKED into ice basically. And since apparently the town of Brookhaven doesn't believe in salt, this is what my road looks like 4 days after the storm.

Yeah, but Dwight just think, you could die in the saddle and nobody would know until you ran out of gas.

They managed to clean up my road yesterday. Lots of bucket loaders clearing shoulders and intersections today. Even had some of them there giant snow blowers clearing the sides of the LIE, now that the cars are gone

Kinda sounds like the pot callin' the kettle black here D. On my many trips from my old home in San Bernardino Valley to the East coast, I don't remember ANY roads being as flat, long, and straight as those around Prescott, ay dude! Those roads were SOOO... flat, straight, and long that the only memories are of the rippling heat waves rising up. No green, just beige and brown. But I guess there's OTHER roads besides W Road-1-N, W Road-2-N, W road-2-S, ...WELL, I guess THAT kinda sums it up. (EVEN the damn names don't change much. )
Check out Bob Koenigs video "Death Valley Coyotes" for the Southwestern view. And as far as NC goes , W Roosevelt, and 16 around Gastonia is nothing I'd call "Twisty".
The ONLY non-stop twisties I've seen anywhere was watching rodents in a maze, BUT, I digress! Note: There are plenty of "Twisties" ANYWHERE you go, if you search them out. Check out the OTHER pics in the "Damn Winter Weather" thread, or better yet, RIDE IT!

OH, and YES, it was 89 today.
And you may see me tonight

Thanks Brin.
It's W. Ozello Trail (Co. Rd. 494), which goes west off of Hwy. 19/98, half way between Homosassa Springs and Crystal River.
It goes west, through the Crystal River Preserve State Park, and dead ends into Crystal Bay, Gulf of Mexico.
We stopped for Blue Crabs (see pic in my "Damn Winter Weather" thread) @ Peck's Old Port Cove.
Speed limit was 35 mph. We hit 70+ in the "straight" sections. (though they were far and few between )
Peace.

Well erle, in regard to this idea o' yours that the Prescott and Sedona areas are "flat"...well, as that famous ol' Chinese philosopher is noted for sayin' about what a picture is worth, tell ya what! Go to Google Maps and type in the directions of: Wilhoit AZ to Prescott AZ. And then, Prescott AZ to Jerome AZ to Sedona AZ. And THEN after you see how "straight" AZ Hwys 89 and 89A are over much of that route, you report back to me, okay?! AND, while you're perusin' over THAT, keep in mind that much of this route goes through the Prescott National FOREST, one of the largest Ponderosa Pines FORESTS in the country. And so, so much for all that "brown and dry" kinda talk TOO, ol' buddy! (...oh, and btw, I'd have posted the satellite pics of that route off Google Maps for ya here, BUT I couldn't get the freakin' thing to post in this tread!!!)

Nope, y'alls gotta head up to them there states north and east of ya's to even come close to it.
(...though you're correct about AZ Hwy 93...THAT one IS mostly booooor-ring, alright!)

I used to live in Florida, actually not far off of 98. I'd stay on cloverleafs for 10 minutes just to make sure the bike would still lean. Santa Rosa County was nice.
In all fairness, Colorado wasn't all that great, either. East of Denver is worse than Florida. Flat as a board and little vegetation. West of Denver there are very few roads cut through the Rockies and lots of cars on them. Once you get to the high plains it's better but, if you live in or around Denver, it isn't very good.
I've lived in at least a dozen states (damned Marshall's Service). I found Florida to have decent winter weather and straight, flat roads. Didn't like the summers at all.
