Nice work Dwight. Great effort. For a change of appearance on that side I settled for just adopting a Speedmaster battery bracket that sorta matches the cheese grater. You are far more creative!

That's coming along nicely. I suspect now you'll fiddle with it more until the profile slims a tad and then it will look factory made.

Yep Ed, Thanks.

I see you've picked up on my overall plan here...to customize my BA in a manner in which maybe "pays homage" to factory-built Triumphs of the past and present.

And, every once in a while I think of blacking out the forks in order to "pay homage" to all the pre-Oil in Frame models. I MAY get to that soon, also.

(...I know every time I see someone do that to their BA or Speedie around here, it gets me all geared up to do it)

Dwight,
Maybe as far back as 4 years ago I met a guy at the dealers during a BS visit. The guy was there for service and my gab session was taking place in the shop. We got to talking and he showed me the side cover he made. He went on to tell me it was fiberglass and he made his own form or mold. He said he wanted to market them. Sorry to say it didn't interest me then (or now, actually)and the thing looked so perfect that I thought he was feeding me a line about it being hand made so I didn't take down the guy's name. The next time I get down to the shop I'll ask if anyone remembers the guy. And don't take a lot of crap about those wire ties - It is completely acceptable to use them if you're out of duct tape.

Thanks, Carl.

Just yesterday I took erle's above advice and ordered from Eddy one of his exclusively made stretched Union Jack decals here...

...which I think will look pretty good on this side cover.

I also ordered one of these decals...

...from a California company that I think I'll place just above Eddy'd decal.

I gotta say that's a pretty cool project you've got going there, Dwight. Like you I wish the two sides matched. Nicely done is all I can say!

I see what you are going for and like the look but I think to make it clean you would need to relocate the battery then do the cover.

Yep Ian. Dave in a PM to me suggested the same thing. I just don't know if I want to go to all the expense and effort to "freak" my baby.

I think at this point I'll just place those decals I've ordered on it and maybe go with this look for a while.

When I get 'em on, I'll post another pic.

Dwight, that really looks excellent, and still would, sans decals.

I hate to say it Dwight but my honest opinion is that it is a fail. I like the idea and done correctly I think it would look good. The angle against the cheese grater just doesn't work. The back part should angle more with the angle of the frame and the front should follow the vertical back part of the cheese grater. I think a part would have to fabbed up.
