Hi Everyone,
Not new to the site but I couldn't remember my old info so this is my new name . I'm getting my speedy painted marble red and black and I can't wait to get it back. I will be posting pictures here as soon as I do. In the meantime I was wondering what you all use to keep your bikes shiny and clean. Include what you use on your chrome and engine areas! I'm looking forward to hearing your favorites!

For a quick cleaning I like Original Bike Spirit

For that deep detailing I use all Griots products. Too many to list but google them. Great stuff.

One last item... To keep your motor black I use S100 Engine Brightener. Freaking awesome stuff!

Another for S100, but I've also heard good reports about SimpleGreen and it's much less expensive.

And welcome back!

I think I need to ride faster because my yearly wash just isn't cutting it.

IMHO ,

When you try too hard to keep it too clean, people expect MORE, critique it MORE, and therefore, are harder to impressed.

When they see one that's cleaned the way Ryan (and myself) suggest, they are truly impressed.

(But, I'd be lying if I didn't confess that I DO wash mine once or twice a year, with water and carwash soap.)

Yep, wash about twice a year. But I wipe it down with a dry cloth about every other time I ride it. Takes about three minutes.

Well, for the last 40 years, I stand about 3 feet back with the wand from the automatic car wash and go after it. Wheel cleaner on the spokes and under the front support first, soap it, rinse it, spot free rinse it then dry it.

About 15 minutes every 3-4 weeks keeps it presentable.

I have never understood the difference between riding in the rain at 70 MPH hitting road grime and water then refusing to put clean water on it in a sunny day.

Note: Just keep the high pressure wand away from electrics.

I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

I use Simple Green, spray it on, rinse it off. Sometimes I use a sponge on the tough spots.
I use a wheel brush on my spokes, because come on, those look bitchin' when they are clean.
I dry it with a synthetic chamois.
Between washes I use McGwires Spray and Shine and a microfiber cloth.

My bike sparkles.

here's a trick from my bygone days of being an aircraft mechanic: pledge. that furniture polish. once you get it clean, wax on, wax off some of that stuff and bugs and grime will have a hard time sticking. used to use it on all the painted leading edges, because washing planes in the cold SUCKS.

S100 wash and S100 engine brighter. I also (mine is one of the fast black ones) use a car dust thingy like they use at car shows, take all the dust and even mild water spots right off and makes her look perdy again.

That is exactly what I do, however, I dry my bikes with an electric leaf blower, it gets all the water out from inbetween the fins, the handlebar controls and the electrics. It's also a great time saver since I'm usually washing 4 or 5 bikes at once. Sometimes it's all of them and my cars too. That's a long day but not enough to get me to sell anything. Minute detailer and microfiber cloth is the key.

Foutainofyouth.com I use there quick shine product, wipe on wipe off takes the dreaded love bugs off quick and easy and that is saying a lot believe me! Waterless use it on any surface won't scratch and a spot on a terrycloth rag will go a long way a couple drops will do my whole tank. Should be about $10 or 15 a bottle and last forever because it takes so little to do so much.

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!
