I have been thinking about getting floorboards on my 03 America. I was wondering if anyone has installed them on their bike and if they like them or not. Some people has told me that they perfer pegs and are not floorboard fans so before I buy them I would like some input. I have never used a bike with floorboards but kinda like the look. Are their any aftermarket places that sell them the Triumph ones seems pricey.

Ahh, floorboards. Many threads in the archives.
Pro's: They are initially a shock but they're enormously more comfortable on long rides. Con's: Definitely adds some "old fart" factor.
Net: I swallowed my pride some time ago and went with the windscreen, floorboards, and corbin seat. I'm happy.

I have found the floor boards to be very comfortable, give you a lot more room to move your feet around, especially on long trips and highway crusing. They do make it hard to get to the side stand for some people, they also can get in the way while moving the bike around in a parking spot or in "off engine" type situations. I used them for the past 4 years and just switched back to the pegs and find that I enjoy the pegs a lot more, especially after a 275 mile ride yesterday.

If you aren't sure about the floorboards, take a look at the "Switchblades" made by Kuryakyn. They are pegs that have a heel rest you can fold out. Seems to be the best of both worlds, and several people on this site have them. I have the "ISO Pegs" and really like them.

Boards're great if you're of a less-than-towering stature, and I've not heard anyone deny that they're more comfortable on long trips. If you like the look and/or want the comfort, get them.

Floorboards make it possible to stand up when you ride through pothole/rough road country - and that's a good thing!

On the con side:
The chrome on them from Triumph sux! Big surprise there eh?
I have them and like them a lot, I am an old fart though.
I would have gone with the switchblades if I knew about them back when I got my boards. I like them even betterer. Well made, work both ways and look way cooler.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Benny,
I think they do, but not sure if their Triumph adapters will work.
DENNIS, You may want to check on Kuryakyn's Dually pegs with stirrups, like these Duallys w/Stirrups. "BikerHaven" is great to deal with, by the way and they're in Arkansas, just North of you (i know what you're thinking, but they really aren't yankees). RepublicCycle is a good ebay seller too, in Texas and they have great prices on Kury stuff - try this: RepublicCycle's Duallys You will also need the Triumph adapter (8870?). Kuryakyn also make a new peg called "The ZombieFoot" that's a pretty large peg - maybe they'll work with the stirrups.
Ride Safe,
Dennis

Love my floorboards, can't imagine just footpegs. Downside is the kick stand is a bit of a reach around the left board. I'm 5'11" with a 31" inseam and just reach the tang.

I've seen a set of kuryakyn iso wings on the front of a speedmaster - looked odd coz they sit at a 30 degree angle. The girl who owns it loves em tho... *shrug*

I like the looks of the pegs better than the boards on our bikes, but I have factory Triumph boards because I find them much more comfortable.Old fart willing to sacrafice some style for comfort.

The two best changes I made: Floorboards and the Corbin. Here's an extensive thread: Floorboards Thread
