Youz guyz and gulls, that have the Wiseco kits installed, who did you get to do your sleeve work?
I figured I'd give some $$ to my dealer but they told me $125 a cylinder so I choked and left. I'm gonna call around to the hot rod/HD shops and see what kind of a price I can get. How about Wiseco themselves? Anyone just send them back to them? I know they'll do it for about $160.

Hey Pat, that's still my problem I can not find ANYONE to do the cylinders local at all. I never called Wiseco yet, if you do let me know the cost. Did you buy the kit. Also will you do the work yourself, do you have the tools to deal with the spring loaded cams, etc?..

Joker,
I have the kit, bought it last year when it was on sale for $300, HUGE savings over the $550 it is now. My dealer has a local shop that'll do it, but for $250 I'll look a little more. I have a few emails/calls out to some others but have not heard back yet. In fact, this one company has a very cool coating, sounds like the nickasel but slightly different, that would be the nuts. Max Power
I will let you know what I come up with.

Ok, that was fast...I just called Wiseco and this is the scoop:
Cost $80.50 per cylinder
Send Jugs and sleeves to:

Wiseco Piston Company
7201 Industrial Park Blvd.
Mentor, OH 44060-5396
Attention: Cylinder Service
ph: 440-951-6600
fax: 440.951.6606

Include a letter stating what it is, (bike make, year cc's etc) and how you will be paying. Your name, address, phone numbers blah blah blah.
They will give you a call when it's done and get your credit card info then ship it back, or include that info in the letter. 7-10 days turnaround. GUARANTEED to be absolutely 100000% perfect or they will make it so.
They also recommended packing it like it was made of glass and insuring it for $2000 in case of any damage.

Sounds like they will be my choice as well. They were very helpful and said they do about 20-50 a week and are fully staffed and setup for it.
And, I do have a little set of tools for the cam tensioner that a member here sent me, I would be happy to share.

Joker,
I just heard from Max Power, $132 per cylinder plus any coating at about $80 per. No thank you.
Looks like Wiseco themselves has another job coming to them.

2k! That's highway robbery! A local shop here is charging me $500 for the install...including sending the barrels to Wiseco. Add the $399 I paid for the kit...I'll be at $900 TOTAL.

That's a heck of a deal gregg, I'm almost tempted to head over to Cleveland and let them do mine.
Naw, I wouldn't learn anything then.

Hey Pat, are you gonna have this big bore kit in place by the time the GA rally rolls around? Being the upstanding gentleman I am, I'd like to offer my services as the official "TEST RIDER" for the entire crew...ya know, in an official capacity of course...just to let everyone know the true power and fury that is your bike. Just let me know buddy....

Lee,
Oh yes it will be done. In fact I just finished packing the setup into the box and will send them out tomorrow am first thing. It took about 6 hours of work to completely tear it all down and get the jugs ready to ship. It will go together a lot faster as I was also doing some other crap as I tore it down.
I took tons of pix and will be adding a new section to the site soon as I get a round tuit.

Yep, the Wiseco work is only $160 so the remaining $340 is their labor.

Granted that was the written estimate, I believe in Ohio the actual can only exceed a written estimate by 10%... and "theorectically" it could be less too...

No it's being done by CycleAnalysis in Cleveland...

I kind of shy away from Cleveland-Akron Honda...

1. I ordered a Aluminum Sprocket and paid in advance
a. They forget to order
b. When they did order they ordered a steel one
c. The parts manager argued with me to pay the difference between the quoted price about $14 (for the steel one, which wasn't even in the catalog) and the aluminum (even though I got it really really late, and it was their fault they quoted and ordered wrong).

2. I ordered a Corbin Smuggler
a. They called Corbin to check availability delivery time, and I assumed price.
b. I paid up front
c. Again they quoted the wrong price $399 (in the corbin catalog at the time) versus $499 (Corbin had raised the price).
c. The parts manager screamed accross the dealership..."you know they raised the price on that and I had to eat it!"

3. Ordered touch up paint for a 2001 Bonneville (red).
a. apparently T had used two reds scarlet and cardinal for different year bonnes (of course they ordered it for the wrong year bike...ironically they sold me the bike)
b. I took it home to use after bobbing my fender, and the paint didn't match at all.
c. The parts manager was refusing to take it back and order me the correct one, because I had opened it (how did I know they ordered me the wrong color?)

The sad thing is I really like some of the guys there...but the parts manager is a real peice of work...

Yes I am. I don't see a need to replace either. The carbs should have plenty for the bike and the reports I have heard on the cams are not that impressive considering the costs.

So the final figures from CycleAnalysis was pretty close to the estimate (although they they gave me a bit of a break, as they spent more time than expected). Their labor rates just went up to $57/hour (I got it for $50) With the new rates, figure $675 to $700 with the boring and sleeving done by Wiseco.

I highly recommend these guys...

That sounds like you got a fine deal greg. I just got my jugs back last night and will be tossing them in this weekend.
So far my costs are:
Wiseco Kit (on sale) $400 from BelaCorse
Misc bits (gaskets, washers, shims) $70 From dealer
Sleeve/machine install $196 from Wiseco, includes s/h and a cleaning fee.
Port and polish heads $100 at Seely Speed Shop (Get them back Monday)
My labor Free
Beer (lots) Free for me
Bleeding Knuckles - priceless

Looks like about $750-800 with me doing most of the work.
Sounds like you got someone else to do the work for about the same price, less the port and polishing.
Cool, we gotta hook up sometime and compare notes and taste test some liquids.
