We too are booked into the Babyquail .(Don't worry, I'll probably drag along some kind of uisge beatha) Cathy wants to see Sedona (and maybe check out the real estate situation)

WONDERFUL!!!! See you guys in a couple months!

Dwight!
Looks like this years shindig is shaping up nicely! I have staked the time out on my calendar, and told everyone I am not available that weekend, so I will take a Lg t-shirt!

Also, gonna have to go looking on this board, who had/has the patches for FriarJohn? I am gonna need one.

See you soon.

love to Dwight, but got laid off at the end of January, and HOPING one of two interviews I've had (or am about to have in the next week) will lead to gainful employment again, but doubt I'll have any free money for a few months once I do get a job again! SO, once again, crappy excuse and hopefully next year! Have a ball and drink one for me!

Wow, sorry to hear this, Greg. Hope one of those interviews pans out for ya.

Though I gotta say, of ALL the excuses you've EVER used to miss this shindig, THIS was the LEAST "crappiest", if ONLY 'cause at least THIS ONE is perfectly understandable!

(...here's to seein' ya next year and when you're settled in on that new job which I'm sure is soon to come!)

Likewise Dwight, I'm going to have to start early to come up with an excuse that tops this years!

Of course, at the pace my second interview is moving I might STILL be interviewing. Had a phone interview on Feb 25, and JUST heard that it went great the other day, 25 days later, and that they want me in for a face to face soon, but as of yet, haven't heard a peep about scheduling....

The kids and grand-kids will be moved to Elmendorf AFB, Alaska by the time your ride is planned for, so AmyLee and I are kicking around the idea of joining in with you and the rest of the merry bikers and bikeretts. If we follow through, I have a question, would your new place of residents have enough room to park a 20 foot camper trailer (toy-hauler) near by party central?

Great to hear, Bob! Lookin' forward to seein' you and AmyLee again!

And yeah, I've got a nice wide(two car-width wide, in fact) driveway here in Sedona that should work just fine.

Dwight, thanks for the info., parking close by will come in handy for staying up later with the party hounds. Let us know if you need us to bring anything extra. Put me down for one of your shirts (XL) gives me room for my expanding belly. See ya in a couple of months.

So Dwight, do you have the route of Saturday's ride to the Grand Canyon and back mapped out yet? AmyLee and I should be arriving at your location by Thursday evening, so we can do a ride to Prescott Valley on Friday to visit her Aunt. See ya soon. Bob

Hi Bob.

The planned route is north up Oak Creek Canyon(AZ-89A) from Sedona to Flagstaff, then continuing up AZ-89 to Cameron, where we'll stop for lunch at the Navajo village, and then west on AZ-64 to the south rim village of the Grand Canyon where we'll stop for a couple hours of sightseeing, then continuing southeast on AZ-180 which will take to back to Flagstaff, and from there back down Oak Creek Canyon and back into Sedona.

I'm figuring it's gonna take us about 10 hours in total.

Hey Dwight, kinda curious as I'll be in unfamiliar territory & Black Beauty will be fully loaded with all my gear for the run to the Big Ditch. What kind of twisty's can I expect to encounter on AZ64 to the south rim? The route looks pretty moderate on the map to me...but then maps can be desceptive. Any hellbender, white knuckle curves along the way?

Other than a reasonably twisty road up and down Oak Creek Canyon between Sedona and Flagstaff, the rest of the route is pretty much limited to sweeper and nothing all that technical, Karl.

Yep that is the plan. I will be heading up there in the next week or 2 to check road conditions, and scout out sightseeing stops in the Canyon (and get my park pass renewed). The lunch stop in Cameron is at a historic trading post and has great Navajo Tacos!!!

So any of you that have one, bring your National Park Pass as it will get you into the park. Otherwise admission for a bike is $12 or so (its supposed to be 1/2 of the regular fee) You can get two bikes in on a pass, if both people have signed the back of the card! Useful for anyone who is a couple!
See you all in a few weeks!!!
Becky

Is there a local brew that I might want to pick up on route to the shin-dig, always like to try some of the local flavour?

Especially if it has super-fluidity.

I'm always game for an IPA version of most any persuasion of suds, that happens to come my way.

The locally produced beer around here is from Oak Creek Brewery, Paul. They make a fine line of the suds, though my favorites are their Nut Brown Ale and Porter.

(...I like the darker brews, as you can probably tell)

Bob -
I will be on the Triumph this year!!!! Took her up on my scouting run on Sunday to the Canyon. Ran great! Gotta dust off and put my saddle bags back on to I have room for change of clothes- just haven't had them on in years, will have to chase the spiders out likely. She will even get a bath on Fri am.

kickstand up in about 90 minutes. Should be in Sedona by 3ish.
Probably gonna detour off of I17 at Hwy 69 so I can ride 89A through Prescott Valley and Jerome and then in to Sedona.

+1 for the hosts.

Great pictures Ryan, wish that I could have ridden with the group. Just had to settle for the Mingus road in the Mustang with the top down.

AmyLee and I made it back home at about 1:30 this morning, slept in and took the rest of the day unpacking the Toy Hauler and our America's. Thanks again Dwight and Judie for hosting party central. If the High Speed Rail doesn't take us out, we'll look at hosting a (CCTF) CenCal Triumph Fest, gateway to Yosemite for next year.
