A short while back I posted my love for the new RE, and we had a lot of spirited discussion about their worth. I noted that Baxter Cycle had discontinued their dealership of them, cause that is what the salesman told me on the phone at that time, six months ago. However, I just talked to a different saleslady from Baxter's, and they ARE CONTINUEING their dealer ship status. They have moved the line to their back (Triumph obviously bullied them into that), and continue to sell and service the RE line. The saleslady said that they have had no mechanical problems with the RE line, and continue to sell a few. Just wanted to change/clarify my previous statement as to RE. Finally, if anybody here wants to donate to the "HELP RICHARD BUY A ROYAL ENFIELD CHARITY ORGANIZATION", all donations would be appreciated, as I am far to broke to buy one on my own!

Oh, and by the way, I only need $6000. I can come up with the $400 difference.

Rich, if you can wait a few months, I should be able to get you a better deal.
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Sure, I can wait. In fact, that's what my wife said! (Or words to that effect!)

My neighbor has had a RE Bullet (mostly parked) in his garage since 2004. His buddies (including me) refer to it as the "Royal Spendfield" among other things, as it breaks more often than it starts, and almost requires a chase vehicle when it does run, to pick up the bits and pieces which fall off when as it rolls along. I have occasionally suggested only half jokingly that he cut it in half front to back and mount it on the wall. I rode it one time on his dare, and it scared the living crap out of me when it took 3X the distance any other bike would take to stop. I understand RE has "modernized" the bike, but it still remains a bike designed in the 50's, by English engineers, and is built by Indians. If I were going to buy a modern retro bike, I think my choice would be a Ural over an Enfield. Good luck!

Well heck then, guess I'd better cancel my order...

I appreciate the feedback. But no insult intended towards your friend, I've found that most antique style bikes need a lot of care. One can also get a lemon in any bike. (There have been a few BA's talked about on here) Also, I'm hearing from sites that deal with RE that the newer generation is way better than the older models. I think that with proper maintenence and a mild riding style, a RE would be ok. Oh, and keep those donations pouring in!
