OK, Four days to blast-off! Plan A failed. That was the plan that had John (My oldest son) riding the Honda that I was going to give him after the trip. Bent valves. This one will be sold as a parts bike. Plan B is still on the burner. That's the plan where I rented a Sportster for him for the two weeks. But plan B ALSO calls for Steven (the younger son) to ride the Suzuki, WHICH IS STILL IN THE SHOP!!! The mechanic said it should be ready tomorrow. Life will SUCK if something goes wrong there, cause I can't rent another bike on two days notice. Plans are to leave Monday am., 5/6, be at the cabin in Hayesville, NC. Tues. PM, 5/7 (If we're not delayed due to Stevens health issues). Leave early Fri. am, 5/10 for Dahlonega, GA. till Sundays return to the cabin in the PM. Then we've got till Fri. am., 5/17, to make that cabin the talk of the town! Should be home (Orlando) Sat. evening, 5/18. THEN I'll be able to relax! Can I get a time & place to meet for Fridays ride? The On-line service is sketchy up in them hills! Last year we couldn't get on line. So this Sunday MAY be our last time on line. Maybe you wouldn't mind PMin' me a phone line in case all else fails. (I promise I won't call for bail monies) A blue line map of the rides would also help. John has less than a thousand miles on a road bike (lots of time on dirt bikes), so we won't be doing any "spirited" riding on the rental, at least IF I can prevent it. We would never think of slowing ANYBODY down from enjoying themselves, but IF we get too far behind, we'll know how to get back to Dahlonega. Our noses ain't good enough to just "follow the smell". Maybe I should have left THAT comment out. (We could SOMEHOW get directions that end up with us in Alabama) Peace!
And you may see me tonight

Given Erle's post, Let's bring this forward for pertinence. Quote:
What's happening...
Heck Yeah! This year we're going to put the flags back up...
Hi efferbuddy..
Looking forward to the rally this year.. got a few ideas.. got some wheels in motion and things are starting to come together...
As far as the ride(s) for Friday, I'm still trying to figure out how to include Richard Russell,Wolf Pen (I always think of Ryan) ,17/75 and 197 in the same ride. I'm working on it as we speak, in fact I was out and about just this morning checking out the possibilities .. the things I do for you guys..
Saturday we'll do the Dragon.. y'all know that I usually don't like to do the Dragon as there are usually too many Squids and way too much testosterone up in those twisties for me but I'm going to make an exception in this case cause hey, you never know who might show up. Good food there too. Up 19/129 accross Blood Mountain and on to Blairsville and Murphy NC.. fuel up in Robbinsville and on to the Dragon. Get some food and take a bit of a break then across the mountain to come back home on my personal fav.. 68/60. Fuel up in Tellico Plains and then it's back to Georgia. As my old buddy Larry would say "sounds like a plan!"
For you early arrivals, I'm planning something for Thursday. possibly a Richard Russell and Wolf pen (Hi Ryan!) kinda thing. Also dinner at El Jimador that night for those interested.
Well, that's the plan. Hope to see a bunch of y'all this year.. I miss the days of seeing how many bikes will fit in the pole barn and watching the videos of the parade of bikes rolling by. Sitting in the pole barn talking till 2 am knowing you have an early roll out the next day or watching a group of guys doing maintenace/mods on someones machine as others walk around checking out the rest.
See y'all in May!

Fly into Columbia and commiserate with the mythical English Yankee. I bet he has yet to bring his Daytona into the dealership...AND I bet he is last minute wrenching on his speedy. Hope you get things sorted Pete.

Here is my bike as of Saturday morning. Any bets on if I'll make it? And no comments on my high dollar bike stand! (It's actually much steadier than it looks.) [image] [/image]

A picture of the state of your bike as of Saturday, posted on Sunday? At the current rate of wrenching, I won't take your bet. GET ON IT! What are you looking at 4 hours? Or is it a parts issue?

Given that we have a house full of company here for my eldest's graduation from that fine college in Dahlonega on Saturday, the Mrs. And I plan on coming up Thursday late afternoon and joining y'all for dinner. It will be her longest ride since the car accident in November. :-D Can't wait to see y'all.

Well since JR has backed out of paying for everyones trip I guess we'll just have to go back to the original plan....

This years get together will be the second weekend in May 10,11&12 .. that seems to work best so we'll just go with it. Looking forward to it! Hoping to see y'all in the Spring...
Dang it! I knew that was going to happen!
My youngest son graduates from NSULA on the 10th.
On the other hand, northwest La. is halfway to Georgia from here...
This might take some planning....
CRAP.
I'm off the 9th - the 19th, but by the time I could get loose from family obligations your party is going to be over before I could get there.
I've been thinking incorrectly that your rally and our BMOA Rally were on the same weekend again this year, but ours is always the weekend AFTER Mother's Day, soooo, I'll be able to help with the loose ends getting that together all next week.
But I'm traveling with family to La. and back this weekend, and Sunday being Mother's Day, I'm not making Georgia.
Just bad timing.
You all be safe, and I'll be checking in. I'll be there in spirit, anyway.
Rats.

For all of you camping, I will be delayed a bit on thursday. I was trying to get my trailer to load all the tentage, grills, wood and gear and I got a bit stuck in my sloppy backyard. Have to figure a way out today or I am going to be on my bike and my wife will have to bring a limited setup in the outlook.
