Anyone know about them or have experience with the bike? I have an offer from an owner to trade for my sweet little 64 and I'm fighting the temptation. Never owned a Duc but I've seen a few, mostly as they passed me and moved out of sight..

I have ridden Ducatis, they are thrilling to ride. And they sound awsome. The ergonomics tend to be a little punishing as well as the seats( for old asses) . If you are really considering it, you want to make sure maintenance is up to date, especially valve adjustments. If you are nearing a major maintenance interval you could be looking at an $800 service. Do your homework. Having said that, they truly are Ferrari's on two wheels. Good luck.

I have heard that adjustments are labor intensive.

Yes, I read the fairing was a "delight" to deal with. Still, a three valve twin can't be all that difficult, can it?

Yes, the whole desmodromic valve thing is intimidating for sure. But it sure is one hot Italian...

I made the deal. The owner drove from Omaha to deliver it and pick up the Trophy and we split the expenses. Too wet to test ride it today but soon, very soon...

Cool Ed, I'll need to make a trip down to your ranch this year, for sure

So it turns out to be a very fast very stable well planted horsepower and torque monster. And the maintenance while time consuming wasn't any harder than pulling the Triumph cams for shimming.

BUT, I finally managed to get my right knee repaired and this bike like my old America manages to put pressure right on the spot that's the most uncomfortable under my kneecap. Now it too is up for sale. If you know of anybody looking for a fast sport touring machine that's up to date maintenance wise please send them my way. I have it listed at $6K on the area CLs but I'd make a much better deal for a friend of the family.

I've seen it in person and I have to say it is one sweet looking machine. I'd like to have this one too but I can't take all of Ed's toys and my wife would kill me.

BTW Ed, where was that first picture taken?

Downtown Fort Payne, Alabama right outside the town's original train depot; now it's the town historical society's museum. As for the Duc, it's gotta go so I can park the Scrambler in there...the Scram's all lined up and waiting I'm just trying to abide by the new household rules of just 2 bikes...

I was going to split this thread (with the severed part going to classifieds) but posterity begs...So, if you would post your duc in the classified section, you just might get your scrambler in the garage a bit sooner!

Thanks buddy, I was trying to abide by the "Triumph related" as referenced in the forum sub title and this truly is an "other bike."

In pretty sure I got a temporary permit to add the Scram next week even if the Duc remains a while longer. She's seen how antsy being Triumph-less has made me ;-)
