Walking through the garage yesterday and noticed a large crack in front headlight. Looked up on wall and there is the perspex protector hanging where I removed it to clean bike about 6 weeks ago. No big deal I thought a semi sealed unit and back in action. Quote from Triumph= $350- only supply a kit with ring and bulb. Best I could do was $75 from England incl freight. There is a aftermarket from India but the price is virtually the same. The trump is now running with a 18 bucks sealed beam unit from Supercheap Auto. The light pattern is different as being for a car but hardly ride at night these days anyway. I figure at the rate I am going may have to alter the country of origin to China!!!!! No doubt many parts such at the exhaust systems etc are sourced there anyway!!

Ya know Kent, I never have liked the looks of the stock headlight's flat glass panel on my bike, and for some time now I've been thinkin' of switchin' it out for the more rounded sealed-beam Sylvania unit instead, like a few of the guys around here have done over the years too.

And so, I must ask...Does that new setup brighten the night road as well as the stock setup?

(...btw, LOVED your responses to Ian and Mike here!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Well, that would make sense with the web site I came across the first time I attempted to look up triumph bikes.

Triumph.com is not about bikes.

Not tried on road yet Dwight but sure it will do the job. Gone from 60 to 75 watt on the high beam but only 1 amp increase so should be no drama with fuse or wiring. Needless to say the headlight protector has been refitted.
