Is there any particular reason why I can't use the, header and a portion of the exhaust, from a scrambler?

Nope, I have been looking for cheap Scrambler head pipes for a few years to experiment with. I want to cut and weld bends into them and make some drag pipes.

The only reasonably foreseeable issue is perhaps a muffler mount, however depending upon what you do, that might not be necessary. Don't forget the insulated pants

I was wondering the same thing. I emailed the seller and he mentioned the bungs in the pipes, but those would be easily plugged. Anyone else have any idea as to why these wouldn't work? Are there cats in the pipes?

I understand there are cats in the mufflers, not in the headers. And they can be used with carbs.

Anyone know what ,if anything, changed on the heads themselves? Could carbs be fitted to the fi head?

Yes...however it isn't that simple to convert a FI bike to carbs, as the engine management electronics need to be changed to CDI also.

I'm currently running EFI headers on my carbed America with no issues. I had to cut down a couple of fine thread bolts so they wouldn't stick into the pipe and disrupt the flow of the exhaust gasses.
