I sure wish Triumph would get the Tiger Explorer right.
Cycle World's latest Adventure bike shoot out ranks the Yamaha Super Tenere' as best all around, but also says the Multistrada is great once the pavement ends, whereas the Explorer was a total poser.
Maybe the Explorer XC makes it right, I don't know...

Keith, I think this just goes to show ya that it's probably nearly impossible to make an "Adventure" bike with a displacement of over 1000cc that has any real off-road capabilities. And so, yeah, while even the Yamaha might be "Best In Class" according to this CW shoot out(disclaimer to follow: I haven't read the article), and the Triumph was found to be a "Poser" by them, due I'll bet to it being even heavier than the big BMW GS, I would say a bike such as the smaller Tiger XC would probably be the best compromise one could make if there were thoughts of doing a larger percentage of "exploring" off the tarmac.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I think they said it was a poser off road. They liked the way it handled pavement.
