CFL stands for Canadian Football League which is nothing like the Aussie rules football nor is it the same game as the American football game. Many an American player has made their mark in our league and taken it back to the States influencing the game played there. Flutie played for Toronto took his style of play to Buffalo. Warren Moon played for Edmonton and took the Canadian game to Houston. Not just these two many were influence on the game south of our border which is why it looks more like our game today than it did 10 years ago. Next week East/Toronto meets West/Calgary in the annual championship game and they play for the Grey Cup. Hopefully American team owners, managers, coaches and players are not watching we are getting tired up here of how they are trying to steal our game. Next weekend while we in Canada will be watching football on a narrower field where only three downs are allowed just to make it challenging we will be hoping not too many homes south of the border on Thanksgiving weekend are set on fire by people not respecting the laws of deep frying turkey.

I got to ask, any stats on the % of pro Canadian players that are past American collegiate players? Just wondering who influences who. Canadian football is a blast to watch.

Do they still wear those funky leather "helmets" w/out facemasks in Canadian football?

CFL is great. Wide open. The talent level is a notch below the NFL but the rules and the wider field, deeper endzone, etc., make for a really fun game.

I'm not much of a football fan but I'm pretty sure it is Toronto vs Calgary in the Gray Cup.

Oh, I wonder if there'd be aboat the same number of commercials run durin' that game, eh?!
(...only they'd be mostly for Molsons and Tim Hortons, eh?!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

What makes THIS particular game more than interesting is that it is the 100th Grey Cup, to be played in Toronto where it all began. It's going to be quite a party!!
Live to love, love to live.

Beer rules in the commercials for sure and we openly encourage bra malfuntions in our half time shows although that's over in a blink of an eye at the temperature the Grey Cup is usually played at. I don't think that we have had a good streak at a Grey Cup for maybe 10 years this could be it as the game is inside a dome.

Honestly, I don't even know who to cheer for. My beloved Riders were knocked out in the most intense finish of a game I have seen in a long time. Here's the thing...I said after that game was done, it didn't matter that Calgary was playing BC and that Toronto was playing Montreal because there was no chance that Calgary or Toronto were going to advance as that would be the biggest upset on both sides. Yet here we are...
I hate Calgary and not a fan of Toronto. I'll watch and hope it is at the very least a decent game. Part of me hopes that Toronto will win as it is in Toronto and that city has no interest in their team...the only blue you usually see in the stands at their games are their seats.
Any day on my bike is the best day ever! That would be my custom painted 2007 Speedmaster or my 2002 Daytona 955i also known as my salt racing bike!

You guys been quite since the big game, who ended up winning? I watched about an hour of the game but after the 20 min (jk) review of the no touchdown, that looked like a touchdown and the halftime show I gave up on it. By the way Gordon Lightfoot makes the Stones look like youngsters again. How old is he, has he been sick?

Ok Toronto won and Gordon is old enough to be my father so yes he is wilted somewhat. I thought he looked liked Keith Richards brother up there on the stage at the half time show.

Well, any team named the "Argonauts" would surely be a winner, Paul!
