I'm riding to SD in August and have had no luck finding a cruise control for the TBA.
Any suggestions (besides tape)?
Thanks!

Would suggest 2 items, a Universal Vista and a 3.5 gallon Tour Tank.
The Vista is not a bolt-on fit, but with just a little bit of help, it works fine. I had to cut down the static arm and use one of the grip housing screws to hold it. The new HD Vista is for 1 inch bars, the original is for 7/8. The tour tank helped by increasing time between stops from 2 hours to over 4.
You may also want to consider some kind of shield if you don't already have one.

I am looking at one these http://www.madcorider.com/cam-lock_honda_cruisers.htmlnext week. It should fit the TBA. Will let you know. I emailed the owner but he said they had nothing for Brit bikes yet. Again, I'll check it out.

I use a $1 o-ring from a hardware store. The o-ring fits between the throttle housing and edge of the rubber grip. Provides enough friction to hold the throttle but easily defeated (or removed). I use a 1.5" X 1/8" thick o-ring. Here's a thread from TriumphRat.net that shows a photo: O-ring Cruise Control Thread I rode to Syraucuse with mine, works like a charm.

JJ, I think four hours between stops is WAY to long in the saddle. My consentration would be totally gone by then, I would have monkey butt by the end of the first day, and I do not think I could go that long between relief stations. Vegas

Yeah I'm with Vegas... I love my long rides, and that tour tank looks like a great idea if you're going places without a lot of places to buy gas, but I couldn't ride for 4 hours non-stop if my life depended on it. I can go a little further now that I've quit smoking, but I still run out of the ability to sit before I run out of gas. That cam-lock looks like it might be really good if it can be adapted to our bikes. I looked with much interest at the "brakeaway" ones - very well made but quite expensive. I liked the idea of the cruise turning off when you hit the front brakes, but not sure it's worth the extra expense. I doubt I'd be using it THAT much. Matt

Al (ssjones)! Thanks for directing me to The O-Ring concept, I came up with something using this principle...awesome (note: it has not yet been road tested)! Check it out at PhotoPost under "Cruisin' Bonnie"!

i upgraded the o-ring by putting a zip-tie on in and cutting off all the left over, leaving a nub which facilitates the removal of the o-ring cruise control. i have applied for u.s. and universal patents on the o-ring cc v2.

Well made, but how're you gonna turn it on while moving?

Turn the knob clockwise (with your ring finger) which forces pressure from the O-Rings onto the throttle and keeps it open. Disengage by turning the knob outward. Again, I've not road tested this idea...I'll let you know!

I use a BrakeAway and wouldn't trade it for anything. It's expensive but made extremely well and works GREAT. It's the only one out there that will release when you apply the front brake. You should check it out. http://www.brakeawayproducts.com/

I'm assuming you have the metric version...

Tested on a local freeway...Nice, it performed as expected!
I've not yet tested long distances (1/2 hour periods).

You could go with the Harley Davidson model. Ramp, Trailer, Harley Edition F-150, H-D Logo Do-Rag to keep the sweat from your eyes while loading your Hog onto the trailer, a second H-D Do-Rag to stop the bleeding from where you hit your elbow after slipping on the pool of oil the Harley left on the trailer, The Official H-D Cruisin' Tunes CD, and a woman in a H-D Shirt who needs the modified 300 rear tire to keep the bike from running on it's rim!
