Well, I admit the paint job IS pretty "busy" and definitely not to my tastes, but hey, it's NOT as if that paint job is on "one the world's best lookin' motorcycles" to begin with here, ya know.
Now, I don't mean any disrespect to the RocketIII or its fans and/or owners, but when ya have one of THE most outlandish motorcycles currently made, I suppose I MIGHT be kinda inclined to say, "What the heck! Why not go ALL out on this baby!", IF I owned one of 'em TOO!
(...know what I mean, jellybean?)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Dwight, I agree with you about the paint and the bike, especially the bike. The Rocket III has the look of a car engine on two wheels and has been butt ugly (IMHO) from day one. You could help that paint job with a brush and some barn paint, but you can't fix ugly styling. I have wanted the world's largest cc bad arse production bike since it came out, but can't get past the "car engine" look. A heavily faired Rocket III Touring with a trunk, thicker, (more cores) smaller radiator and one (what happened to only one headlight anyway?) headlight may attract me and some from the Dark Side as well. They (Triumph) didn't ask me what I'd like to see (although I don't know why) in a new model III.

Nothin some rattle can wouldn't fix... Plus, I've always hated the 3 pipe R3s with saddle bags, the left side one looks like it shrunk... I'd want twin pipes and larger bags.

While I agree with ya Benny about the asymetical exhausts on the standard Rockets, I've always thought the best lookin' exhaust system for the RocketIII's might be just one goin' down along the right side, kinda like what were on the old prewar Indian 4's here... ...but just a little lower. I mean, the Rockets have always reminded me of those old Indians in a way...a bike I USED TO have a picture of with my Pop, the proud owner, sitting on. (...I sure wish I knew what I did with that old photo of him taken just before WWII!)

I kinda liked the pipes on the '69 Trident. Or should I say 'pipe'?

Then you'd probably also like my buddy Phil's '69 BSA Rocket3 he has among his collection of fantastic bikes in California. He rode it during the Hansen Dam British meet in SoCal a few weeks ago which I also attended. On the way back to his place after the rally, we swapped bikes and I got to ride it too.

That is one nice and clean BSA. I'd LOVE to give that a spin. Shiny!
