...that is the best way I can describe what is happening. The motor is running fine, but when I get going it feels like I'm riding on really low tires or the rear end wants to come around on me. I checked the tire pressure and they were correct.
The one thing I have not done that I can think of is replace the bearings in the neck. Would worn bearings make it feel like this? I have no idea. It just doesn't feel very safe. Thoughts?

My first thought was something not aligned right.

Huh... I wonder what the heck that could be. Did this condition happen all of a sudden or slowly over time?

Im with Ian... sounds like somethings not aligned. check our rear tire/adjustments and axle nuts.
Get it upright, on a jack if you can, and see if the swing arm has an extreme amount of side to side movement.
How's that chain looking as we'll?

Report back.

All of the above, plus it could be something loose, or a bad tire. Be sure to get it sorted before you do any more riding.

I had a similar feeling right before I replaced my chain and sprockets. haven't felt it since. not saying that's what's ailing your bike - but I agree that it's a VERY disconcerting feeling.

My first thought was chain...something loose...maybe tire wear?

When I get that "coming around" sensation it's always been the tire, usually low on air but also hardened or slick tread will give the same reaction.

That would be a whole different kind of ride, and not notched racers either rather a loose lucy would be the cause.

+1 r tire

Might want to ensure the calipers are bolted tight.

(it's possible that it was alignment as well for me - the guy who mounted my tires for me in may was an idiot....I had the chain and sprockets done by a shop that I trust implicitly - since I have having my valves adjusted anyway - if there were an alignment issue from the first guy, I'm sure the second guy remounted correctly)

It has come on kind of slowly.
I will get it up the jack this weekend and take a look at it.
It about a month ago, but it has been a week or so between rides (and they have been short), I thought it was just me, but I rode to work the other day, and that was when I said...okay time to post this. Thank you everyone, I'll keep you updated.

While you got it jacked up, check the swingarm for side to side play as well, there shouldn't be more than a couple of thou. of an inch movement, if still in correct spec.

I was just about to suggest the swingarm bushings.

Sooo...Ryk, I may need to bring you down for a couple of days here in Portland, and help me work on this thing if I can't figure it out.
