OK , all hooked up and this is my official result in the professional chart below.
RPM ------- Stock R/R -------- Shendingen R/R
1,000 ------ 12.5 ------- 13.9 1,500 ------ 14.1 ------- 14.3 2,000 ------ 13.8 ------- 14.3 2,500 ------- 13.8 ------ 14.3
Update : battery must have needed some juice, 'cause now I'm getting 15.0 volts over 1500 RPM all day.

Wade, I may have just missed this but why did you opt for the non PNP version?
I'm installing Rick's R/R in just a few minutes. I'll post numbers shortly.

15 volts is a bit high. Battery acid might evaporate a bit. Should run around 14.6. Hope your voltmeter is just reading a little high.

Here are my results so far:
RPM ------ Stock R/R -- Rick's R/R
1,050 ------ 12.4 ------ 13.9-14.6 1,500 ------ 14.4 ------ 14.6 2,000 ------ 14.1 ------ 14.8 3,000 ------ 13.8 ------ 14.8 3,500 ------ 13.8 ------ 14.8 4,000 ------ 14.0 ------ 14.8
Not sure what's going on with the voltage swing at idle, but it's within acceptable tolerance I suppose.

I opted for the Shendig 'cause it's a very good unit, Yamaha uses 'em, not that Rick's is inferior, just wanted to try that one, and the reason for the non PNP was because I wanted the simple straightforward mainline wiring, three from the stator and two to the battery. That's my story.

Hey Wade, Jackshakes and anyone else who is seeing @idle V go from 12.5 to 13.5+ with the new R/R -- is your bike idling better? I know the primary reason for the upgrade is to prevent battery discharge, but I have a new procom CDI that seems to dislike anything below 13 V so am considering the R/R upgrade. Already did the stock mod.

Mine was idling fine before, it just wouldn't put out enough voltage to light up the battery like it should. PM me and I can give ya some intel about the regulator.

Those of you who opted for Rick's regulator/rectifier did you get the oem style or the "Hot Shot" verison and are both plug and play?

I installed a Ricks Motorsports Hot Shot R/R today and am quite pleased with the results. I'm getting 14.6 volts from idle to rev limiter. I had done the 10 ga wire mod and was ok with that but wanted more. I was thinking about doing the 10 ga wire mod to the Rick's R/R but thought I'd try without first and found it is not necessary. I don't think I want more than 14.6 volts I recommend the Ricks Motorsports Hot Shot R/R for peace of mind!!!
