My 24 YO stepdaughter Grace is currently toward the end of an 11 month trip to 11 countries and is a month from coming home. They've been involved in everything from helping build orphanages in Haiti to working with rescued slaves in India. She just departed China this past week, where she was traumatized to see a Buddhist monk set himself on fire to protest China's occupation of Tibet, and she's now in the Philippines - her last country on the tour. One of her "team" is a very talented guy and has been uploading videos at every country visited showing team activities. Each video is 1 minute 11 seconds long to signify 1 year and 11 countries. The latest is from China at the Great Wall, where the entire team put on quite the dance show (and even a little Chinese kid got caught up in it). I'm attaching a link to the latest vid if you have a minute (literally) to take a look. Remember being that young? http://johnfrankdieguez.theworldrace.org...k=true#comments

Very, very cool.
My daughter's junior year in high school the chorale, as they were called, was performing at Carnegie Hall. In attendance, among others, was the Chinese ambassador. He invited them to perform in Beijeng the following spring with the Chinese government picking up (most) of the cost.
Erin, a hurdler and heptahlete, has pictures running the hurdles at the Olympic 'Bird's Nest' as well as running over a 'faux hurdle' atop the Great Wall.
Kids these days...

I remember being that young. Being in a position where the world is your oyster. Ah days of yute. Just wish I'd realize my true age, before I lift heavy things, etc. Seems like China is a popular place to visit anymore. John, your step daughter will NEVER be the same.

Well, our "credit" seems to be good, there.

I sure admire her for doing all that good work. What an eye opening life changing trip that must be for her. Fine organization too. http://www.theworldrace.org/?tab=about
