Can anyone enlighten me on the connection between Triumphs and the number 59?  That's right, 59. Thanks.

Well sure, although not just specifically Triumphs. The number 59 is associated with the 59 Club, also written as The Fifty Nine Club and known as "the '9", and is a British motorcycle club with members internationally. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/59_Clubhttp://www.the59club.org.uk/

According to 128 years of Triumph motorcycle history on the net,the Bonneville was introduced that year but wasn't featured in the company catalogue. I don't know about the 59 club UK.I heard it started with 59 members or maybe it was named after the Bonnie too.

Yup, '59 was the year of the first Bonnie. During that year they also produced a single carb version called the Tiger. I had me one o' those back in the day. In fact, it was my first bike!

Weren't they the Tiger 110 Keith?I had a 55 model T110.It was my first road bike.I chopped it.I should have been horse whipped!BSA bantam stripped for "bush bashing" was my first bike. Sorry for going  Erle

I have a 54 and a 58 T-110 love em both. There is an oil pressure gauge in the timing cover of my 58, when running a post sticks out showing pressure kind of like one of those things that pops out when a turkey is done.
