Add up the SAME accessories, along WITH the purchase price of the Bird, and you COULD be ridin' a Harley.

But goin' the way you did, you didn't have to "down grade"!

Early on I decided I wasn't going to sell this bike, everything I spend to make her better and more unique is well worth it. Step away from the calculator!

Even my local shop says my bike is very customized. No I never use the calculator, the shock would be too much for my checkbook to handle!

I did that a coupe years ago before my motor mods. I knew I put some $$ into the bike but I had no idea how much till I added it up. Scary doesn't cover it.

I went the other way and spent very little on my bike. I figured the motor was what it was. It didn't bother me when I bought so didn't make it any faster. Other mods were cheap. Maybe 1500-2000 bucks.

I will say the highest quality, cheapest, and best looking mod I have done in a long time is the laydown bracket from Zdenko.

Somebody said about 6 years now "You really don't own a Triumph, you are just its caregiver." I have never been able to remember who said that. Don't count the money, its not about the money, its about the way it touches your heart.

Ron, that's the truth for sure, well at least in my book! Every Triumph I've owned was gonna be a keeper, and all (except for #14 - Black Beauty ) were labors of love (so to speak) in rebuilding each back to road worthy condition. I've never made a wad of $$$ when reselling them either. But enjoyed riding them for a year or so, and then being certain that the new "caregiver" had the right heart for the cycle. It's never been about the $$$, but about the ride and enjoying and sharing the history of a finely crafted machine.

With respect to Black Beauty....yep, she's a "keeper" too and it doesn't matter how much $$$ I may spend to keep her sound and safe, fun to ride, and an object of envy in the eyes of others ...HAHAHA
