Yeah where in Bennington? I know Manchester has a show every June, used to have a hill climb up Equinox, but I don't know if they do it anymore. I'll be in Bennington next weekend for the MS walk!

The show was at Willow Park. My out of towner description - I rode in on 7 northbound from the MA side of town, went through town past 9 east / west, then about a mile or two north on 7 the road begins what looks like interstate spec. Just before the interstate like portion of 7*, turn right at the light. Willow park is there on the right. The event is well organized with shuttle buses and tractors with hay wagons serving the parking. $8 to get in & free parking. I believe the proceeds of the gate benefit the show's sponsor, The Bennington Chamber of Commerce.

Good news - The weather and show were awesome.
Bad news - The Blue Benn Diner closed at 2 pm. :-(

Jensens next door was good though. Open face turkey sammich with real mashed taters and gravy in about 5 or 10 minutes flat. Decent coffee too. Almost forgot the hot pecan pie what had some vanilla ice cream all up on it. 10 or 12 bucks total plus tip. The pie was of the frozen variety, but I managed to glom it down.

perhaps it's apparent that it's 2:21 pm and I haven't eaten all day? Mmmm mebbe.

*If I'm not mistaken, the route 7 exit ramps and loops at the north end of Bennington & the interstate like portions of 7 may have been part of the grand plan to make a proper highway out of route 7 from the shoreline at Norwalk, CT to Montreal, way back in 1959. Some turtles or tadpoles decided otherwise. As we live 300' off 7 in CT, I've often wondered the pros and cons if a multi lane highway had been completed. 7 began it's life as a pre-Revolutionary War era wagon trail along the rivers. Perhaps 7's history extends back further to the Native Americans and Puritans or even earlier? Not sure. Traveling the rivers certainly had it's value back when.

So you turned over by Burger King and K-mart?

We like to call that super 7. I think it's technical name is 7A. Or maybe that's 7 and the "old 7" is 7A. Whatever. It was completed back when I was just a pup, maybe a little before. They extended it from Manchester up to East Dorset (where the Wilson House is) when I was say 10 or 11. I remember riding our bikes on the smoothed out road bed and searching for quartz and other shiney rocks in the freshly blasted road sides. They're finally connecting the bypass to Rt 9 east of Bennington(they did the Rt 9 west one 6 or 7 years ago, which connects to NY 7, quite confusing). My parents live a few hundred yards (but 3 miles by car) from super 7 up in Manchester, and we used to live a similar distance from old 7 in town when I was a kid. My uncle even has a bumper sticker that says "Friends don't let friends drive Rt 7" It's a Vermont thing... People from the Addison County region think Rt 7 is like thunderdome. They should ride the LIE sometime!

Sorry you missed the Blue Benn. Thems good eats.
