Yep....just broken in.... A lot of people get concerned about seeing higher than average mileage on a bike but these units just keep on going. All you have to do is keep changing parts and the bike goes on literally forever. Congrats Greg.

Man, I have a lot of catching up to do. Better go riding
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

You bet! My little 4-stroke, single cylinder 150cc scooter just went over 70,000 kms this week... not bad for this kind of machine.

A little hippie music to inspire him to ride that eight miles. Disclaimer: this should not be mistaken for advice to ride it high.

If I remember right, it is a 2002. With some light custom work.

Don't start him off!! In the UK, we take the year it was registered as the age of the machine. Grzegorz's bike was actually registered in 2001 so over here (and apparently everywhere else except the US) it's considered an '01. Done. No more. PLEEEASE. The US seem to like being ahead of themselves ... I'l make a long and boring story into a short and boring story .... I subscribe to 'Ol Skool Rodz (a US rod magazine). Bear in mind I have had the latest issue about 2 weeks. It MUST take at least a week or two to get over here, get the container through customs and then be distributed. It's the Nov issue for Chrissakes!!! WTF?? I know most mags are usually dated the month after the actual month you can get your hands on them but NOVEMBER issue. At the end of August?!?!

Ya know Ade, there's a very simple explanation for all this:
America is a country filled with Furturists!
In fact, right now I'm plannin' what I'm gonna have for supper...next January 18th!!!
Though once again, and I really hate to belabour(I threw in that superfluous letter "u" in that word JUST for you, ol' buddy ) the point here, and while I realize(with a "z" there, as you can see ) Wikipedia can have their facts wrong occasionally, I invite you and Grzegorz to see what they say about the Triumph Bonneville America model and the MODEL YEARS it has been manufactured...

OH, I forgot to add here... WAY TO GO, Grzegorz! That's some pretty impressive mileage you've racked up there, alright! (...on your 2,000 TWO MODEL YEAR Triumph Bonneville America, that is!!!)

Wooohooo!!! Check out the HP and torque in the 2007 model ... 54 bhp (40 kW) at 9,800 rpm, with maximum torque of 129 N·m (95 lbf·ft) available at 8,800 rpm.
It's in Wikipedia so IT MUST BE TRUE. Irrefutable proof Americas are faster than Speedys!!!

I don't think that Americas have ever been offered in all black, therefore they cannot possibly be faster. (Despite the wicked peddler stuff )

If you are referring to the chromey engine cases, I thought you knew that they were there to reflect the energy from the sun, thus allowing better engine temperature control, which then allows the engine to perform better for longer.

This is classic British logic right here! This ranks right up there with the fact that Meriden Trumpets never leaked oil....
They had a fully functional external lubrication system!

Well I gottsa retort fer ya using THAT "British logic".
Seeing as how the Speedmaster has such a beautiful but beastly BLACKED out engine, instead of the shiney bling blingy chrome crap, it therefore absorbs ENERGY from that round ball of fire in the sky and is therefore already warmed up and ready to ride when I am and will be miles down the road, (and in the breeze, that cools ) before the America gets up to idle with out the choke pulled.
So in the words of many other "infamous" AMERICANS: "EAT MY DUST , SUCKA!"

Oh, well, THAT was the time they ran out of the nicer lookin' SILVER powercoat color for the engine cases, Matt! Uh huh, word is Clive who worked in the paint booth accidently knocked over and spilled(or "spilt" I suppose in Clive's case) all the good SILVER powdercoat paint cans in September of '06 and when the TWO THOUSAND SEVEN MODEL YEAR bikes were beginning THEIR production run!!!

So wait is it an 06 or an 07? I'm thinking the gestation period doesn't count.

Well Matt, it was AROUND that time, anyway. (...though of course my previous reply was primarily offered up in efforts to kid the Brits about the name "Clive", to suggest the differences between the American lexicon of "spilled" and the British "spilt", to imply that the silver cases on the Triumph America look FAR better than do the black cases, AND to once again mention that the MODEL YEAR of vehicles' production run almost always begins in the Autumn of the PREVIOUS year)
