It's rare but it happened just the other day to a friend of mine... a gal sitting at home while her husband was away working. During her otherwise quiet and uneventful evening, a cougar (mountain lion) entered her house and attacked her. She's okay... her dog drove the animal out of the house, but what an ordeal!!!!!! http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2012/08/28/bc-cougar-attack-trail.html?cmp=rss

Good job mans best friend was with her. Glad she was ok. We had a scare over here this week as well. But more suited to April the 1st. Tho those that saw it really thought it was the real thing. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4506832/Cops-hunt-for-lion-in-Essex.htmlatb geoff

WOW! Thats quite an amazing story. Turned out a little bit different than the last time I got attacked by a "Cougar", she didn't mind my doggie at all.

That's scary and kinda creepy. I work with dogs and have for over 17 yrs. They are incredibly loyal and tough when they need to be. That lady is very lucky.

She says she plans to keep her doors closed in the future.
Yeah, because the likelihood is so high of it happening twice to one person, said no one ever.

But then, being reported in The Sun, chances are 50/50 that lion is the kind that says "Meow".

Yep Joe. Every time I hear of cougars doing something like this, I'm always reminded of that funny old Smothers Brothers' routine and how Tommy says the word "pumas" like "pewmas" and them being "down in those crevices". (...and especially when he tells his brother, "I'M not goin' down there!")

A little update on the ordeal... Angie is okay, yet still rather traumatized by the attack. She says she can't close her eyes without seeing the eyes of that lion. Approximately 36 hours later the animal was hunted down and killed and found to be quite aged, skinny and weak. The unusual attack was deemed to be because of the cat's compromised condition... that and the fact that Angie lives on the edge of wilderness. Angie is soooooo grateful to be alive and her hugs are better than ever. She is strong that girl, and knows more than most how precious life really is. Here's to Angie and the strength she possesses!
