You're going laugh out loud when you read these stories:
A DC 'airport ticket agent' offers some examples of why the US is in so much trouble!
1. I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman (Carol Shea-Porter) ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window. (On an airplane!)
2. I got a call from a Kansas Congressman's (Moore) staffer (Howard Bauleke), who wanted to go to Cape Town. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information, and then he interrupted me with, ‘I'm not trying to make you look stupid, but Cape Town is in Massachusetts ..''
Without trying to make him look stupid, I calmly explained, ''Cape Cod is in Massachusetts , Cape Town is in South Africa ..'' His response -- click..
3. A senior Vermont Congressman (Bernie Sanders) called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando . He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that's not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state.
He replied, 'Don't lie to me!, I looked on the map, and Florida is a very THIN state!!'' (OMG)
4. I got a call from a lawmaker's wife (Landra Reid) who asked, ''Is it possible to see England from Canada ?''
I said, ''No.''
She said, ''But they look so close on the map'' (OMG, again!)
5. An aide for a cabinet member (Janet Napolitano) once called and asked if he could rent a car in Dallas. I pulled up the reservation and noticed he had only a 1-hour layover in Dallas ... When I asked him why he wanted to rent a car, he said, ''I heard Dallas was a big airport, and we will need a car to drive between gates to save time.'' (Aghhhh)
6. An Illinois Congresswoman (Jan Schakowsky) called last week. She needed to know how it was possible that her flight from Detroit left at 8:30 a.m., and got to Chicago at 8:33 a.m.
I explained that Michigan was an hour ahead of Illinois, but she couldn't understand the concept of time zones. Finally, I told her the plane went fast, and she bought that.
7. A New York lawmaker, (Jerrold Nadler) called and asked, ''Do airlines put your physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage belongs to whom?'' I said, 'No, why do you ask?'
He replied, ''Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said (FAT), and I'm overweight. I think that's very rude!''
After putting him on hold for a minute, while I looked into it. (I was dying laughing). I came back and explained the city code for Fresno , Ca. is (FAT - Fresno Air Terminal), and the airline was just putting a destination tag on his luggage..
8. A Senator John Kerry aide (Lindsay Ross) called to inquire about a trip package to Hawaii . After going over all the cost info, she asked, ''Would it be cheaper to fly to California and then take the train to Hawaii ?''
9. I just got off the phone with a freshman Congressman, Bobby Bright from Ala. who asked, ''How do I know which plane to get on?''
I asked him what exactly he meant, to which he replied, ''I was told my flight number is 823, but none of these planes have numbers on them.''
10 Senator Dianne Feinstein called and said, ''I need to fly to Pepsi-Cola , Florida . Do I have to get on one of those little computer planes?''
I asked if she meant fly to Pensacola and fly on a commuter plane.
She said, ''Yeah, whatever, smarty!''
11 Mary Landrieu, La. Senator, called and had a question about the documents she needed in order to fly to China . After a lengthy discussion about passports, I reminded her that she needed a visa. "Oh, no I don't. I've been to China many times and never had to have one of those.''
I double checked and sure enough, her stay required a visa. When I told her this she said, ''Look, I've been to China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express!''
12 A New Jersey Congressman (John Adler) called to make reservations, ''I want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York .''
I was at a loss for words. Finally, I said, ''Are you sure that's the name of the town?''
'Yes, what flights do you have?'' replied the man.
After some searching, I came back with, ''I'm sorry, sir, I've looked up every airport code in the country and can't find a rhino anywhere."
''The man retorted, ''Oh, don't be silly! Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!''
So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, ''You don't mean Buffalo , do you?''
The reply? ''Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.''
Now you know why the Government is in the shape it's in!
Could ANYONE be this DUMB? YES, THEY WALK AMONG US, ARE IN POLITICS, AND THEY CONTINUE TO BREED.
I don't write it, I just offer it for your consideration.

I don't doubt anything after hearing one on the news being concerned that putting more troops on Guam could capsize the island. Along with many many other gaffes I have heard them spew on the news.

Oh, and btw AGAIN...years ago when I began my airline "career", I was a reservation agent for TWA, and I once had some moron call up and say he "wanted to fly to Africa". I then told him that that's a big place and asked him which city in Africa he might be talkin' about. His response was..."Well, what's the CAPITAL of Africa?" (...that was when I did the same thing as this airline employee in this thread did..I hit the "hold button" on my phone, and started bustin' up BIG TIME as I stood up and told my fellow Res Agents sittin' around me what this moron had just asked me!!!)

Good one, erle.
But trust me AGAIN here. While admittedly during my airline "career" I DID work with some REAL "dim bulbs", SOMETIMES some of the CUSTOMERS would make THEM look like regular freakin' EINSTEINS in comparison!

Leaders of the country should be a little bit more ......shall we say sharp than the average Joe Public. A little more edumacated, schoo-ed even, in the geography and cuocher of the peepels, an cuntry, they tryin to guvern. What do I know though, right. I'm embarassed to know these people go to other nations and repesent us. They must be the reason most people from other countries think Americans are stupid.

C'mon now, Chad! ANYONE with an IQ of over 115 knows better than to enter POLITICS!!! And btw AGAIN...have you ever watched the quiz show Jeopardy during the time they run their little "Celebrity" or "Political Movers and Shakers" special week? And, IF ya HAVE, did you happen to notice that approximately 78.9% of 'em are, well, pretty darn CLUELESS up there behind their little podium?! AND, not only THAT, but they EVEN dumb-down the freakin' QUESTIONS for 'em TOO!!! (...I rest my case!)

My favorite quote from Idiocracy: "Joe: Man, I could really go for a Starbucks, you know. Frito: Yeah, we'll I really don't think we have time for a hand job, Joe." Sorry for the derailment, but I couldn't help myself.

Well Garf, I think its a pandemic. I got rid of my TV because there is nothing entertaining on it anymore. Idiocy seemed to be the only thing that spewed forth from it. Even the news is no longer believable, because they load it so full of opinion, they even make up large bits of it. Everyone has an agenda it seems now days, and they have to publicise it. I watched a Youtube video the other day where a couple of fellows took to an environmental awareness rally, to see what was up. They made a petition to have hydrogendioxcide banned and everyone at the rally they asked to sign the petition did it without question. Thats H2O or water. They blindly signed a petition to have a federal ban on water.

At a certain political convention a guy went around getting delegates to to tell why (on tape) they were in favor of a ban on all corporate profits.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I always watch both conventions on C-SPAN, no opinion filters, spin or embargos of the speeches by "news" programs. Since the conventions are in English, I need no interpreters.

Yet, we have a certain fellow in office who upon election, his net worth was a little over a million dollars. Now not quite four years later this fellows net worth is a little over eleven million dollars. The job don't pay that much. And how did he find the time to be that personally industrious, while taking upon his plate the enormous duty of public office? Ten million dollars net gain in less than four years is a fantastc gain.

I checked that one and it didn't pan out on some fact check sites. Where'd you come up with that?

It doesn't matter if it's true or not, considering all the money that's been created in the last three years, QE1, QE2 and soon QE3, that $10 million will only be worth a million. So, he would only be staying even.

I don't know how you checked. I didn't say who. Maybe its not who you think it is. I weren't speaking of any president. If it were he would certainly be the poorest president in recent history. Which I quess makes another point. If they are so against private corporation profits, How are they so rich? I can't think of any other way of getting rich.
