Is the Thunderbird struggling in sales? Triumph ran a promotion for Zero percent financing and now I get an e-mail from Triumph offering $1,500 worth of Triumph gear if I buy a new Thunderbird. Offer is only on the bigbird and speed triple IIRC. Are they trying to help dealers clear out unsold inventory? Dont see offers like these on Bonneville series bikes...
Does Triumph post sales stats for each model?
As a side note, I just rolled 6,100 miles on my 2011 America and my local dealer has a new Storm on the showroom floor...interesting...but no. The balance of power and weight on the America is outstanding, besides the one the dealer has is that black primer look that I do not like.

Considering the great performance reviews of the TBird, I don't see too many on the road.

Reading about a considerable number of problems owners are having with their brand new Thunderbirds as well. Belt noise/chirping, coolant leaks, vacuum hoses that pop off frequently causing the engine to stall without warning and putting it back on will burn your hands, oil seeping and fast brake & tire wear which is understandable considering the T-bird's weight.

Generally speaking I don't see Triumph on the road. Maybe 3-4 at weekly bike night where they have about 300 bikes on a good night. I saw 1 Tbrd in the last year outside of a showroom. Have not seen the 1700 at all.
No, Triumph does not release the numbers built on any models. They really don't release the numbers built total either. They just leak unverified stuff to a blogger who will write something about it.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

It doesn't have anything to do with potentially poor sales. It is just marketing. My dealer has a hard time keeping T-Birds in stock. People are buying them. They do have a matte black Storm that has been sitting for a little bit longer than most bikes, but it's matte black. Currently Triumph also has specials running on the very last Tiger 1050's and Speed Triples. http://www.cascademoto.com/specials.php

Are those promotions from your dealer, or Triumph?

just a couple years ago Triumph was giving away $1000 or $1500 bucks in accessories with the America/Speedmaster too... which reall doesnt add up to much when you think about it, maybe some TOR pipes and bags and a windshield

+1, same here. The local dealer is selling the Birds pretty well. I would speculate Triumph will run these type of promos to move the higher priced models after the initial fascination fades on new designs.

I respectfully disagree.
An accessory bonus of $1K to $1.5K is pretty significant, especially on a bike that only costs about $8.3K.
If Triumph was offering that kind of deal on the Tiger 800, one might be in my garage already.

Are those promotions from your dealer, or Triumph?
Except for the free delivery, they are Triumph promotions.

Not a lot of Triumphs period in this corner of the globe. I place that squarley on the shoulders of the dealers here. They sell BMW's and if you talk Triumph, they're like "Oh, they're over there." I don't see them promoting through there own ability or the RAT clubs either. When I go to the counters for parts, its like I'm interupting or something. And I have to travel 60 miles for this in either of the two directions. Compare this to the "Harley Dealer on every block" concept with agents and service personnel that are on you like starving dogs and it is no wonder they are few and far between down here. Don't get me wrong, the bike is a better bike IMHO, but how much better to be treated second rate. I know others have way better experiences, but I'm not there. I have these wonkers to deal with. Sorry for the rant, but that is where Triumphs real problem is seated - at the dealerships. The bike is a fine product. Sad thing is, I don't see Triumph dealing with the problem to protect their name or image. I know plenty of riders who went to these two particular dealerships and walked away because of the experience. They had never ridden a Triumph, but were interested, and then made uniterested by a quick visit.
My 2 cents.

I see more here in the Daytona area it seems like all the time. When I travel to the big cities to visit clients, I see many. Of particular note, San Francisco, Chicago, and New York City always seem to have a good number of bikes, with particular emphasis on Triumph and Ducati. I say with particular emphasis, because there are always the rice rockets, but for classics and naked bikes, those are the two I notice. Heck, I saw an Aprilia at the Y last weekend. That is unheard of here in Central Fla.

BMW, like Triumph, does the same kind of promotions. The finance promotions are great deals, but you better have perfect credit and high income to get them.
