I feel sick just reading your post.

But you can fix it. Think of it as adding character to your ride.

How did it happen? Very strong wind or bike pointing downhill or malicious intent or someone backing up without looking?

I've heard about that happening.

Crappy luck! But you can fix it! Give it a day or two to calm down, and then go to work. Good luck!

A static, unbroken fall like that can do a lot of damage...sorry to hear about it.

Assess your parts needs and post a list.

What happened, Rob? The other week I leaned my bike over after returning home and... forgot to put the kickstand down. I got off much easier than you. That's tough, man!

Ow! Time to put a list together and head over to Pinwall Cycles...and to make Pogue Mahone an offer on his tank in the Classifieds...

That sucks. My fell over also. On me. Let me check if I have any of that stuff. I may have the mirrors, turn signals, and clutch, brake levers. I'll check when I get home. If I still have them you can have them.

NOT laughin' AT you man, just laughin' WITH you!

I did that a few months to a year ago.

Luckily, mine's so light, I was able to JUST BEARLY catch it.

Well I sho' am sorry about that, feel the pain , but mebbe some levity here can make ya feel better.

I see from your last post that you have no glue. Perhaps replacement parts may be a better choice.

( sorry, but it's late and the bubble wrap is all gone )

Gutted for you Wade. Had to "put" mine on it's side one time, felt sick wondering what damage would occur as it was going over! Luckily the only damage was to my lower back and my pride!

I'd rather ride it than clean it!!!!

Don't feel too bad... we have all done something similiar. The other day at the gas station I almost dropped mine too. Same habit about stopping and kicking the side stand down(except this time I didn't actually go all the way down and lock). Just when it got to the point where it should have stopped (and it didn't) I had to make a hulk effort to catch it and not let it drop. I must admit after I got it back up and actually settled on the stand that I looked around to see if anyone had seen it. Glad nobody else was watching... embarassing.

Yep! Hate to admit it, but just last week I had my BA on it's center stand and parked behind my Spyder, where it always sits. I was gonna drive the Spyder around a bit, and so I jumped on the BA to move it directly across the garage and behind my wife's Outback. When I got it over there, I started leaning it over to its sidestand, BUT...well, considerin' the topic of this thread, I think you folks can figure out what happened next, RIGHT ?!

Yep, went RIGHT over with it, and ended up gettin' my foot caught between the bike and the garage floor.

(...and once I stopped laughin' and worked my foot out o' there, I stood up and righted my bike to find I had lucked out...no damage whatsoever...my foot must've cushioned the fall)

Always sucks to hear about bikes falling over. If it makes you feel any better, Steve McQueen rode damaged bikes with pride.

Friends driveway is gravel and lined with railroad cross ties. He lives in a rural area at the base of the Smoky Mountains. He pull in one late night, might of had a drink or two. Got to close to the tie, put has foot down missed the kick stand, bike goes over and he's pinned and can't get up.
Keep in mind there are not a lot of homes in the area. So he starts calling for help after about 10 mins an older lady from the neighborhood comes down and they manage to get his foot free.
I don't know about youze guys but I think that is dang funny right there.

It's not speeding till you get pulled over.

PS, Let us know how the insurance thing works out. ( I could use a paint job, just kidding I wouldn't do that to my baby)

I left the steering locked on one once, and took off only to spill it on the yard. Yep, I have heard of this kind of thing happening.

Speaking of locking, leaving the neighborhood this am I had wet roads, approaching a stop sign I was already slowing down, not down shifting, (i was only in 2nd anyway) just eased off the throttle, as I got closer, I applied both breaks lightly. Well must have hit oil, mud or something cause rear end started kicking out HARD to the right, I was only going about 5-8 mph , but brought back some good ol dirt bike memories.

Orderd a new tank and pipes. The tank was 900 bucks through triumph i about ******. bub pipes went up to nothings cheap.I could almost buy another bike for parts for what it cost to fix it. If i didnt have all that money in wheels rubber shocks and springs seat i would send it down the road and start over.

Sorry about your bike ,man. That sucks. Been there also. Tanks are ridiculously high. Maybe you should check out e-bay or even here on classified section for a used tank.
When I wrecked my red TBA the dealer wanted to include a new tank in the estimate and the old one was barely scratched. Even w/o the tank I couldn't afford to get it fixed with what the insurance co. was giving me. I had to scrap it and take the cash. It broke my heart because the bike wasn't that far gone. Just the forks and front spoked wheel basically. Later that month the service manager said someone came in with the bike to have it checked before buying it, It still had the bent forks.

Dwight I like your attitude. May as well laugh cause crying only gets you wet and whatever happened, happened. Mind you looking out and seeing motorcycle on its side I might be inclined to resort to some language other then English so neighbours don't know what I am saying.

Rob,

Man, this thread sounds almost like a RIP.... condolences and all and I can't help but add my "so sorry to hear" story.... Like Dwight, I managed to get my boot between the bike and the ground so no damage.

If the insurance is paying for the new parts, get the optional painted tank. Probably cheaper.

Has anyone "NOT" dropped their bike?
