After all, they invent everything

Too old to die young, too ugly to leave a good looking corpse

WAIT! While reading this "news flash" that kids are basically clueless in regard to anything that's ever happened in the world before they were born(and sorry to say, but that's pretty much been "a thing" in this world for generations before even THIS clueless generations...but I digress), I saw that it said The Who closed the entire thing by performing "My Generation"!

And so, did I miss that somehow OR did NBC decide to run one of their MILLION FREAKIN' COMMERCIALS or that REALLY LAME SITCOM PILOT while Roger and Pete were rockin' away???

(...'cause I didn't see that...did any of my fellow Yanks see that?)

Ah HA!!! I just goggled "What did NBC cut from the Olympic closing ceremony?", and I found THIS...

http://www.kypost.com/dpps/sports/olympics/viewers-upset-nbc-cut-off-closing-ceremonies_7759950

SOOOOO, it seems not ONLY did NBC cut The Who, but ALSO Ray Davies of The Kinks, and evidently ALL so they could promote one the LAMEST and totally unfunny freakin' sitcom pilots one could ever have the bad luck to watch, "Animal Practice".(which I unfortunately DID watch, and that's my review)

And YET, they kept in their broadcast that no-talent act, The Spice Girls, and their little reunion!

Ya know, THIS is one of the reasons why America is fast goin' to Hell in that proverbial handbasket!!!

(...okay, okay, "a little" over-reaction here I suppose..BUT STILL!!!)

I thought they were Kinks. Not 'The' Kinks.
There you go, you and your superfluous 'The'
It's like Kings of Leon. They often get a free 'The' too
I gotta say, listening to US radio, the constant repeating of ads is a real pain. I am sick and tired of hearing that the Kia Sorrento "is not your average sedan!" and that Dantes in Key West is THE coolest hottest place around

Probably the same kids that have never heard of Elvis, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Sex Pistols, Blondie, The Ramones, Devo or even the B-52s. sad, sad, sad... I blame their parents for not teaching them about music.

The Spice Girls had a reunion? Had they broken up? Does anyone care?

I hear the 1910 Fruitgum Company is having a reunion tour.

It's gotta be better than the Spice Girls.

Led Zep
Pink Floyd
The Who
Fleetwood Mac
Beatles
ELO

I had to look up to see you Ed Sheeran even was. These kids think they're just it...do't they?

Even my mother knows who Pink Floyd is...

I can't really criticise the youth on this one. You see, although I did know who Pink Floyd was and I did know "wish you were here", I didn't know who Ed Sheeran was. So it appears I am as ignorant about their music as they are about mine.

Our generation has failed our youths. They are ignorant because we were out in left field while they were growing up with out guidance.

My kids rock. We've spent months at a time living in a tent in the Rockies...and lots of other places. My oldest is my best friend and, between us, we can build anything. The other two are similarly awesome. There are lots of great young people out there. Every generation thinks the next one sucks.

It was a generalization sir, not an all out indictment of every parent of youths out there. There are some who raised their chirens. Smokey, myself, and other esteemed fellows on this very site. Just that we are out numbered heavily.
