Yeh you read right I'm talking about scraping not scrapping your Triumph. Whilst under my TBA tonight tenderly lubing up her chain, I had a good look at her undersides and realised I have never touched down (scraped) when cornering. Is it me just being a bit of a woos in my riding style or are these bikes hard to scrape on corners. I have gone hard at times when on the twisties and was sure I would hear the sound of scraping metal but it just never seems to eventuate.

I have scraped the pegs a number of times. I have also scraped the pipes with the wife on the back (  ) but that was more do to the wrong setting on the shocks.

It takes a lot but you can do it. Every time I pass the groove in one of the roads that I take all the time, I can't help but smile knowing that I put that groove in there by scraping my pegs.

Yes it is hard unless you try to follow Dwight down a mountain. One year I dragged the chrome off the bottom of the left pipe and tapped my kickstand under the frame trying to follow that nut case. He calls it spirited riding. More like he is trying to become a spirit. Its hard to do, they have a ton of clearance. Most do it by accident. Left side will usually touch down first as the roads have a higher crown in the middle.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

I've tried but not to hard , scraped pegs occasionly. I'll admitt I'm a little affraid to lean too far. Not too worried about me but I really don't want to hurt my bike.

I had my shocks set too soft and was scraping pipes even on slow turns and curves a couple of years ago. After adjusting, I didn't scrape anything for a while until this weekend on the Cherohala. I got a pipe one time and hit the right floorboard pretty hard on one curve trying to keep up with Mike, the "yutes," Ryan, and Paul. Scraping pipes doesn't bother me, but hitting the floorboard always unsettles me...I'm glad nobody was coming the other way.

yeah keeping up with Dwight with on his home turf is nearly impossible.
I've scraped pegs and pipes on my America, but not nearly as often as I scraped pegs on my old Honda VTR1000, WOOHOO BABY!

I can probably count the hard part scrapes on one hand. With my feet on the rear pegs though,I've knocked my boots off the pegs several times on freeway interchanges here around town. Always gets a grin out of me when that happens!

A couple left turns here that I regularly scrape the kickstand. And I've scraped the pegs a few times doing the aforementioned following of Dwight

I've done quite a few times. Usually it comes as a surprise but it no longer startles me. Keeping up with Fast Eddy a few years ago I did it several times. The footboards are still thick enough I have a lot of scraping left to do. 
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

every day in the parking lot at work I want to get the titanium feelers so I can put on a nice show for the smokers I go by. I put new feelers on every year I have them in little baggies labeled to see how my riding style changes.
Life need a little Triumph!

Scrape the pegs every now and then on my usual route and it no longer gives me a fright. Strangely it's usually the left peg - strange given the camber is opposite to the USA so it would usually be easier to scrape the right peg in Australia.
I did get a fright the other day when I bottomed the right pipe hard at 100kph directly below my seat (but not the peg) in a fast right corner with an unexpected bump in the corner.
I try to push the envelope because these bikes will stick/corner harder than we think. I suspect a lot of accidents could be avoided if the rider simply laid the bike over further rather than freaking out and braking/standing the bike up.

Usually scrape the pipes on roundabouts (which we have a lot of over hear!) or bumpy back road bends. Again its usually when I'm two up. Did scrape the hero bobs once, when avoiding a speeding cager who came around a blind bend on my side of the road! That was a leg wetter I don't want to repeat! 
I'd rather ride it than clean it!!!!

I've done it a time or two, but my boot heel generally is what I drag - On the rare occassion I drag anything. What I did find quite interesting was when a friend and I leaned the bike over in the garage until the peg made contact. Although not so far by motorcycling standards, that was a visual that clearly puts it into perspective - It's farther than I like to dwell on.

VERY true, Richard! But in addition to this, I suspect a lot of riders haven't a clue about the practice of "Late Apexing" into those turns in the road, and which because of this lack of knowledge will often lead these riders into running out of room in their lane while cranked over into those turns and thus causing them to freak out and stand the bike up as you mentioned, and just when they shouldn't.
Whenever I'm riding "spiritedly"(as Ron so expertly put it earlier ) on the twisties around here, I ALWAYS practice this.
In fact, what I'll often do is try to ride at a constant speed of say 40-50mph("semi-spiritedly", so to speak) and mostly trying to avoid applying any braking on these twisty mountain roads around here which have a posted speed limit of 35mph even on the straightaways and which often have "advisory" speed limit signs posted at hairpin turns of 25mph. And so, by keeping at that constant speed of 40-50mph, and ALWAYS looking for that "late apex" in every turn, it helps further ingrain this practice into my subconscience so that I'll seldom if ever "run out of room" in my lane and/or cross over the center line EVEN when I AM riding more "spiritedly" on these roads.

That's why "Scrapin'" is usually a two-step process for me. Step one; scrape the pipes. Step two; (after getting home) scrape the shorts.

haven't done it yet...it just seems too high... did it on quite a few occasions on my 650 Yamaha. Felt like a "right of passage"...but that bike was significantly lower. ...but I guess I'm not leaning enough if it hasn't happened... ; )

A week or so after I mounted the ISO dually pegs on I did scrap the RH peg a bit. Surprised the dickens outta me. But go figure, with the necessary clevis/hinge adapter they are a bit longer than stock pegs. But I didn't think I was leaning into that RH sweeper that low either!

Rode around Tasmania in February this year, from Hobart to Straun, you just about scrape the pegs on every corner, for approxiametly 174k's (give or take a few k's).
Come on down to Adelaide we have some good roads through the hills, but you will have to get in quick as they seem to be dropping the speed limits on a daily basis.

I leave regular gouges in the road with the kickstand, but never the right side scrape. How far to the edge of the tire are you? Am I going too slow?
