Ok I replaced my clutch springs and not the clutch plates. Followed the manual and followed Biker Thug post http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...ge=0#Post378171

I put everything back together, made sure the warpy washer was there...went to start the bike and the starter will not engage...sounds like something is binding up and not allowing the starter gear to move in place....

Any suggestions??

pop the cover off and make sure everything is lined up and turning. make sure you are in neutral.

What was weird was there is the gear selector hole thru the cover and in the front of the cover (toward the front of the bike) there is another recess that looks like where the shaft with the warpy wash would go into ...but it appeared to not line up when I put the cover back on. The cover went on easy and just pushed into place and all the dowels and bolts lined up...just makes me mad because it is a very easy job to do...

Sometimes the easy jobs are the ones that give ya a fit.
when the cover is off make sure everything is meshed together and spins freely.

Well after taking apart 3 times..I gave up and took it to the shop. What they told me was the shaft (the one with the warpy washer on it) can pull out and allow the idler gear to drop...
