So I just installed D&D Boss Slip Ons on my 03 Speedmaster (about 4.5k miles on the bike). I haven't rejetted yet because I'm waiting for the airbox elimination kit to do all that. Rest of the intake/carb/exhaust system is straight stock. I did up the idle to richen it up a tad. But I took it for a quick 2 mile test ride anyway to hear how it sounded. I expected some popping on decel, which I got. But when I got back and turned her off there was a steady stream of white/gray smoke coming out of the right pipe. This went on for a good five minutes. Naturally, this has me quite worried. I'm hoping it's just some silicone sealer that got inside the head, factory coating... or something? Please tell me I didn't mess something up by not rejetting before riding.

By no means am I an expert, but Im inclined to agree that its most likely just some crap on or inside the exhaust burning off. Did you notice any partitcular smell associated with the smoke?
BTW welcome to the forums Rob, how bout some picks fo your ride when you get a chance.

Thanks Matt. Yeah it was a pretty funky smell. Couldn't quite identify it, but it definitely wasn't fuel. Could have been some kind of oil or similar compound. Fast Eddy recommended that I run it at high revs for a mile and check the plugs, as his shipment with the ARK from NewBonneville got delayed. Here's my girl with the new pipes after installing Progressive 440s and Progressive fork springs. These pipes are pretty beastly.

I really like the Yellow On Black. I've heard lottsa good things about those pipes but never got hear them in person. Should sound even better once you get some mre air on the intake side and with proper jetting. More POWER also. Like the cornhole boards too.

Haha, thanks for noticing. We're big fans of cornhole and BBQ around here.
The pipes are mean as hell. When everything's all spec'd up I'll probably do a little video, but even sound clips don't do them justice. I'm almost a little intimidated by them, haha. At WOT you can hear the ol' girl coming from more than a mile out.
Hey just wondering. The bike seems to be running a bit lean. If I took out the snorkel and plugged up the AI, would that get it a little richer - hold me over until my ARK comes in?

I don't know about pulling the Sorkel unless you put in a bellmouth, As far as plugging the AI I really don't think it has much effect on the performance but removing it it suppose to help prevent blueing of the headers. I pulled mine a fews weeks after I had it and a few months later I drilled debaffled my pipes, pulled the airbox, put on pods, rejetted and relocated the battery. Mines been running great ever since, a few tweeks here and there, ( ditching all the CA emission crap, jetting again, and Shortening pipes)
I know a little, like I said by no means an expert, hopefully a few more will chime in to give you some better advice and a warm welcome.

Gotcha. Well I just pulled the snorkel anyway, since it's just a temporary thing. Seems to help the airflow in a little bit. Hopefully I can get everything else done by the end of next week.

Pulling the snorkel with those pipes will definitely cause a stock motor to run lean. You might notice that the engine bogs down in the mid range. It will pop way more on deceleration. You should run between 130 and 135 mains with the 42 pilots and at least 1 shim under the stock needles. If you notice this and don't have the proper main jets, put the snorkel back in until you can rejet.

Yeah I think that's what D&D recommends.
Another question. Anyone can probably answer this.
I'm going to remove the A/I and the instructions say to "place the vacuum cap provided in the manifold port."
Can anyone point me to where that little rubber cap goes specifically? Is that the little hose running from the outside of the left carb to inside somewhere?
Also, anyone know an easy way to get the A/I pipes out without removing the tank?

Just pull the tank, they connect to the vacuum diaphram under the tank and that bolts to the frame backbone up there. There is a larger hose that runs to the left side of the air box that needs to be capped off and a vacuum line that runs to the left intake that also needs to be removed and capped.

Okay I get it now. Finally, is there a way to get the air delivery tubes unscrewed without damaging them? I can't seem to slip a wrench in there...

Here's a link on some of the "how to's" for our sweet machines. The first topic is AI removal. http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...age=0#Post90184Can't remember if I damaged mine or not after awhile I threw it all away.
