What is your best guess on the year and model of this 650?

It's a '70 Bonnie, Soren.

(...you can tell 'cause of the forward engine mount is a triangulated three bolt plate, whereas the '69 and earlier models have a welded on "prong" style mount...they switched to that because it made installing/removing the engine a matter of sliding the engine directly in or out the side, instead of having to lift the engine up and over the prong-style mount first)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

1968 or '69. They both had the scallop above the eyebrow badge.
Just read Dwights post so....never mind.

Well Matt, from THAT line, I'm at least somewhat heartened to learn that evidently there WAS a time you DID like me, anyway!!!

I guess you must have missed my "" in appreciation of your joke there, Matt. Nope, I wasn't sad. I actually liked it.

Aah, but NOW we come to the issue that your guess was going to a '71 T120...

WHAT?! Are you some kind of DUMMY or somethin', DUDE???!!! I mean, EVERYBODY knows that '71 was the year Triumph(and BSA) went to the Oil-In-Frame models!!! And does THAT Triumph look like one o' those to YOU???!!!

I wonder if Soren coud get the engine number, there are several really good serial number registries he could access.

Good idea, Ed!

Gotta say I'm still wonderin' why Soren asked this question.

(...btw Ed, as I'm sure you know, but for the benefit of others around here, another way to tell the '70 Bonnie from the '69 is that on the '70 models the passenger handrail is mounted to the fender bracket, such as on the bike shown above, whereas on the '69s that handrail is mounted to the underneath of the seat....oh, and the '70 models were the first year to have a crankcase breather tube which ran all the way back and under the left side of the rear fender...it's actually a rather ugly little arrangement, isn't it?!)

I swear Dwight you have way to much knowledge of these motorbikes. Are you for certain you worked in the aviation industry?

Not me, a good friend of mine is thinking about it. he emailed the pictures to me late last night saying that he was trying to talk the guy into selling it to him. What is still a mystery to me is why he didn't ask the owner what it is. Or if he did, why the current owner doesn't know what it is.

I posted it on FaceBook too, and it seems the popular opinion is that it might be a '70 T120R.

Dwight is correct, the front engine mount was a change to get ready for the OIF models in later years.
