So after 8600 miles, I seem to either still have a fair amount of vibration on the throttle grip, or it is perhaps getting worse. Back in the day, people used to say to synchronise throttle bodies or carburetors for such a situation.

Back in May, I had a shop that I respect a LOT do my 6,000 mile service, and am confident they did no less than what the manual calls for. I have never seen nor heard of anyone sychronising the TBs on Americas.

What am I missing here? I am sure I just exposed my fundamental ignorance. Thank you for any forebearance.

have you changed the grips lately? is the vibration always there or at a certain rpm or gear or speed? Did anything to the risers etc?

There's another thread on here talking about some of this. I have a similar problem to yours. I'm getting a fair amount of buzzing on both sides of the handlebars. I had this before I replaced my chain and sprockets, and after. The before and after sets are identical. The chain is lubed and adjusted too. My rear tire was ready for a replacement, so that is going on this week. Hopefully the tire is the problem.

How are your tires? Mine don't last long

Stock grips, and it mainly gets on my nerves at 80+ MPH for more than a few minutes, no risers. I will say TORs and no snorkel, no risers FWIW.

Front tire has expired, but yet to be changed, rear tire has much meat left on it. Again, I bought it new, 2009 America, 8,600 miles.

I would suspect the worn front tire first for the vibration culprit.

Your can balance the throttle bodies on your 09 EFI. It's very easy with the right gear.

1. A right-angle philips head screw driver. You can bend an old screwdriver 90 degrees or buy the fancy geared angle screwdriver.

2. Tuneboy ($$$) software or TuneECU (free) software.

3. A Data cable (diagnostic plug to USB) to connect the bike computer to your laptop or PC.

The software reads the throttle bodies and you turn the screw very slightly to equalize them. Easier and more accurate than balancing carbs.

Cheers, Richard
