I was filling up today while sitting on the bike. The fuel dispenser didn't auto stop so gas spilled out over the tank and onto my pants. I took them to a laundromat and ran them but they still reek of gas. Any suggestions?
BTW... These are my Motoport stretch kevlar pants so no, I can't just buy a new pair.

Take them in and have them professionally cleaned by a dry cleaner. If they can't do it, then they may have other effective recommendations.

Other than that, just lay them in the sun for a few hours or a day, and see if that helps.

Dawn dish soap, put it on the gas soaked pants. Then put them in a laundry machine. Works every time.

1. Get pants wet
2. apply dish soap
3 work soap into affected areas by hand
4 while still saturated with dish soap wash according to instructions on the pants.

Wash your pants in hot water with a cup of vinegar, and then run again in hot water with a half-cup of baking soda. (Do not add laundry detergent to either wash. Just once with vinegar and once with baking soda.)
Laying them in the sun will get the smell out but it won't get the residual chemicals out from the gas.

Had the same thing happen to me leaving the midwest rally. I hung the (jeans) out in the garage for a week and then washed them and did not smell any gas after that. I threw out the underwear.

+1 on the Dawn method. Vinegar and baking soda works, too, but it's an extra step for the same result. Dawn smells prettier than vinegar.

Like has been said - dishsoap. Does wonders on gas and oil in the driveway too.

I have also used the baking soda/ vinagar method to get gas out of boat carpeting.

+1 had the same thing happen to my goretex rain gear & this is what I used. When the goretex pants were dry I had to retreat the fabric with a DWR (durable water repellant spray) tho.

if they're still wet with gas next time, just use a lit match, gets gasoline out of anything fast!

Actually, I now remember the best way.

Whenever I have gas in my pants, I merely wave my hand behind my backside and apologize, or, if it's a good one, I just smile with pride.
